DD is EBF. She has had a few days here and there where she hasn't pooped at all and then the next day she'll have 1 giant poop all day. Initially she was pooping in small amounts like every other diaper change. The first day she didn't poop was right before her 1 mos pedi visit and he didn't seem concerned. He did a rectal exam to be sure there wasn't any physical issues and all was fine. So my question is, is this a normal poop routine for an EBF baby? I always thought BF babies pooped more often. And she's having lots of very wet diapers and growing like a weed, so I'm not concerned about intake. But she is really gassy and I give her gas drops a couple times a day.
Re: Can we talk about baby poo?
DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.
Bellevue is right, that's just the way some babies are. Tyler was almost exactly the same way as you're describing. He only pooped once a day every 3 or 4 days, even in the very early stages. It was very concerning to me since he was also EBF, but the pedi was not in the least worried and said that is just his schedule.
He did start going more often once we started solids, but he still will often go a couple days or more without pooping. Try not to worry, I know it sounds crazy for an EBF newborn, but I'm sure she is really fine.

Maybe they are a match made in heaven?!?! Although Billy will have to fight Meaghan's Levi for a date with Maddie. Birthday buddy might trump bathroom buddy.

HA! Maddie would be impressed with Billy's blowouts, for realz!
Normal normal normal. EBF babies can go every day or can go days and days without going. Whatever is normal for that baby is normal for that baby. As long as they don't seem to be straining as if constipated it is not unusual for a BFed baby to go several days with no poo.
FYI, I have never found gas drops to be worth a crap. (pun intended ha ha ha. Seriously, I think they're bogus. They never seemed to do anything for my kids so we stopped using them)
