  • I'm here! I'm hoping they don't cancel my appt for today, because we got some snow here. The whole city has shut down. lol

As for shaving...I still am able to shave my legs and "girl business" a couple of times a week. I have to strategically work it out, using the seat in the shower. I can't see most of it, so I am convinced that one of these days someone is going to discover my bloody carcass in the shower. Ha!  I cannot wait until things are no longer such a challenge!

  • QOTD: You know, I haven't tried to shave in a month, so I don't know!  Last time I took a bath to shave, then took a shower to get clean because I got so dizzy trying to bend over!  I am going to try today before my appointment.

UPDATES:  Had contractions most of yesterday, but was able to email my nurse throughout and we kept track together.  Since they did begin to spread out and stop completely around 4:30, she didn't have me come in.  I have an appointment today anyway, so that is cool.  Growth u/s, check my cervix, monitoring, "the works."  My mom is coming with me to keep an eye on DD since DH is short staffed today at work.  Normally my mom is banned from the Dr since my last pregnancy she was always there when I had to go to the hospital!  My nurse likes to still give her a hard time about it.  And all of this makes me really appreciate my Dr and her staff.  They are just awesome.  I am packing a bag just in case, and in hopes that it will be like "reverse psychology:" if I am prepared, I won't need it!

  • QOTD: I can still shave my legs, just barely, and only if I do it quickly.  it's not always the best shave, but it does the trick.  But there is no way I could give myself a pedi now.  I can't even reach my toes!

UPDATES: I had my 33 week appointments on Tuesday.  Both babies looked great on the NST and we had our monthly growth u/s.  Baby girl is 4 lbs. and baby boy is 4 lbs. 11 oz.  They are almost the same size on all measurements except the belly - she has a really small belly (<5th percentile).  They did some additional bloodflow studies on her to make sure she's getting everything she needs, and everything was normal, thankfully.   The peri just thinks she'll be a skinny baby.  And, the exciting news from my OB (who is amazed that I am still pregnant) - if I can make it to March 1 (36 weeks), I'll finally be off bedrest!  Less than 3 weeks left!

Barely! The end result has been getting pretty sloppy!! I just keep missing spots, so at some point I should just stop. Starting to look like I've been experimenting with Nair or something. What's the point of shaving if you have more hair on your leg than you took off!!!

  • 24hr urine says I'm definitely pre-eclamptic. Growth u/s says my boys have a 21% weight discordance. Basically, the OBs are hoping I'm diabetic (even though I passed my GTT) because otherwise, I'll probably delivering on or before 32 weeks. Oh, and of course, I won't be released on strict bedrest.

And no, I cannot shave my legs or give myself a pedi at this point. However, my wonderful DH has been known to help me with such matters (not that I have anyone to impress here in the hospital.

I cannot see anything down there, so I definately cannot shave my legs! But i do get waxed once a month. Im going to be induced next month so once I find out what day I will wax about a week before that. But surprisingly I was able to succsessfully paint my toe nails. It took awhile but I did it :)

  • QOTD: Yes, I can still shave! BUT....I really, really would like a bikini wax right now, so I guess that will have to wait!

UPDATES: I saw both a new MFM (who also did our anatomy scan) and my OB yesterday.

Anatomy scan went well (we are team green again!). Baby has an EIF, but my 2nd son had that as well and all of my other tests were great, so we aren't concerned. I had some spotting yesterday morning (grrr!) and they spotted a small clot on the u/s yesterday. MFM thinks its old blood??? A bit nervous about it, but none of the doctors are concerned and I haven't had any spotting since then (knock on wood!). The GREAT news is that my cervix was measuring 2.9mm yesterday (up from 2.3mm last week!). I am still on modified bedrest, but they don't feel that I need to see an MFM (I am still deciding what to do with that situation....). Our "plan" now is that I will see my OB every week for a cervical check and we are also switching to the P17 shots (which I will get at my weekly appt). I cannot stand the vaginal supps......they are making me anxious because they are making me feel "leaky" and I have a history of getting yeast infections from them, so everyone agreed that I should switch to the weekly shots :) My OB said that we will lift bedrest restrictions at 28 weeks assuming my cervix continues to stay stable. That is still a looooong 9 weeks away, but I like knowing that there is a "plan."

I'm still feeling very down and stressed about our situation. Our house feels very chaotic and out of control. The boys are cooped up inside, but we are doing our best to stay positive!

  • I haven't tried shaving my legs lately, but I did shave "the business" by feel the other day...I'm with whoever said they might be found in a puddle of blood!!  I now have a shower seat, so shaving legs might be a possibility!  As far as toes I haven't tried in a while, but I'm so paranoid about putting undue pressure on my cervix I'm afraid to bend over and try!  "Oh hubby..... • feeling good today. Uneventful past 2 days, just like I like it.

Appt tomorrow afternoon with peri to check on stitch and cervix. Fingers crossed things have either gotten better or at least stayed the same...

QOTD: Yes, I can shave my legs although I rarely do. I could also five myself a pedi IF I wanted to, lol

  • imageQuestion of the Day:

I actually did last night! So yes, as of this week I can. I try to do it the evening before my appointments. PLUS, shaved legs feel great between the sheets (at least for me)... they're not as itchy- ha ha! The most I try to do these days is to clip my toenails which is becoming increasingly difficult now.

    Updates?

At my peri. appt today: my cervix is still closed, measured 3.5cm (down from 4cm two weeks ago). Thankfully my uterine wall thickness has stabilized and measures the same as last week. My ob/gyn started me on antibiotics since my urine came back showing bacteria which makes me worry a little since I had chorioamnionitis during the pregnancy in which I lost my son.

Other than that, I'm in the process of finishing up some homemade Valentine's Day cards and gifts I've been helping my daughter make for her preschool class. Whatever I can do on the floor to spend time with her... plus it helps to pass the time.

  • QOTD:  Yes, I can still shave while standing in the shower (but we have kind of a built in "bench" in there so I put my leg up on it).  I'm sure I'm missing spots but oh well, at least I'm trying.  And I DID give myself a pedi a couple of weeks ago.  Not the prettiest and neatest one ever but it was so overdue I was embarrassed at the hospital earlier that week.

Update:  Not much new.  Contractions still all day but not progressing as far as I know.  Just trying to relax and take it day by day.

  • I am still able to do both, which is nice, but it has gotten increasingly more difficult.  Thankfully, I have only two more days before I will have my stomach back.

  • QOTD: I haven't tried since I have been on bed rest but this post makes me want to put forth the effort.  I can't quite see my legs (and certainly can't see my bikini area) but it might make me feel better.  As it stands, I am hairy and zit-faced and wearing less-than-flattering glasses.

Updates:  The OB discussed the discordance in our girls' growth with us today.  He thinks that a 7% disparity is insignificant; he wasn't dismissive of my concerns but rather comforting.

I have found funky ways to shave my legs in the shower because I just can't stand going more than 3 or 4 days without... and that was in a tiny hospital shower, no bench...  I also have been able to paint my toes as of two days ago :)  It was hard, but I was determined!

Update:  I just got moved from the hospital I spent the last five weeks at to the hospital I intended to have Dakota at.  Wow, huge change in routine and I just got here.  I can't get up out of bed now unless it is to go to the bathroom.  My diet is changing some too, but not sure how until tomorrow.

Type: Couch arrest- I can get up to shower, get food or use the bathroom; that's it.
Reason: After two scary episodes of sudden bleeding, I was diagnosed with both placenta previa and a subchorionic bleed.  Supposedly will heal itself if I don't move around.

I've been on bed rest for 3.5 weeks at this point; I was dealing with it pretty well, but the last couple of days I've been losing it a little bit.  Looking forward to getting some support from those in similar situations.
