Babies: 6 - 9 Months

tummy sleeping babies wetting through diaper at night/nap?

DS has recently started sleeping on his tummy - he's 7 months old, so I'm not too concerned about it. My only real frustration about it is that he's started wetting through the front of his diaper fairly regularly while he sleeps.

He wears a size three diaper, so I tried a size four for nights (and naps, if I catch him before he falls asleep). He doesn't wet through every night anymore with the size four, but he still does about every third night or so. And, yes, he's pointed down. ;-) I'm thinking I may have to resort to overnight diapers.

Does anyone else have this problem? Do you have any little tricks up your sleeve I could use? =)

  • We had the same problem and I got sick and tired of changing sheets EVERY day!  We swithched to the Pampers Baby Dry overnights in a size larger that DS normally wears and haven't had any issues since :)

  • We're having the same problem these days...I put LO to sleep on his back and he rolls over to his tummy.  I posted a simlar message a few days ago and all of the feedback/suggestions I received was to try the Pampers night time diapers.  Going to head out to get some tomorrow.  I am really hopeful they work for us!!!   Those suckers aren't cheap!  :)
  • I tried the Pampers and they didn't work for us--even though we use them for his regular diapers.  A co-worker of mine suggested the Huggies overnights--so far so good, but he has also been waking up once a night and we end up changing him.  But the few nights that he has STTN we haven't had any problems.  But yeah, it just started when he starting sleeping on his stomach.

  • My two year old has been wearing overnight diapers for many many months. He even floods those some nights. We do overnight diapers in a size bigger than his normal diapers (size 6 instead of 5), and most nights we get through without issue if we change immediately when we wakes in the morning, obviously he's STTN.

Overnight diapers really aren't a big deal. Both the Huggies and Pampers versions work very well. I don't quite understand what your hold up is. Just use them and save yourself the frustration. It's really no biggie at all.

  • Do you give him a bottle right before bed? That was our problem. So we started giving our DD her bottle 30 to 45 minuets before bedtime, and made sure to change her right before putting her down. It definitely worked! She's only had one accident since and she was just ready for the next size in diapers. Good luck, hope this helps!

Baby Dry makes overnights!?  I gotta check that out - we have the same issue sometimes.  I use the baby dry but occasionally they leak and we even have blow outs with those damn jelly things all over.  Ugh....Its like he saves all his peeps for over nights.

  • We try to bring the diaper a little higher in the front at night (he wears overnite size 4's and still wets through every now and then) and it seems to help a lot- it just brings some extra area up front to absorb.

  • We use Pampers Baby Dry (they are the 12 hour diaper) all the time.  They work most nights.  We still do a 10:30 bottle so we found that it is easier to do a change then rather than letting him go from 7:30 - 6 in one diaper.

  • Huggies Overnights are a blessing.
