I see from the cerclage post below that you also have a TAC? I had mine placed in pregnancy at 11 weeks. How are you doing with it? I had mine placed by Dr Haney in Chicago - who was your surgeon?
Another coincidence - I'm from Brownsburg
Small world!!!!!

Re: ***lemen99***
Yes! I do!
We have a great high risk unit in Indy and Dr Sumners placed it. He's done several quad and triplet moms in the area. He's done about 250 TAC's.
I was the 8th patient to have it done laparoscopically (by my doctor) before being pregnant (so in June of 2010). He traditionally has done them at the end of 1st tri via c-section. I know you are probably cringing if you've read what I've read online about it - but rather than trust online sources, I chose to trust my doctor. He was confident it would be as good as the traditional method and had very good answers as to why the past stories are generally sad stories.
I've heard Dr Haney is incredible!
Crazy that you are from Brownsburg!! When did you move?!
I am doing well! I had checks so far at 16, 18, and 20 weeks - with cervical lengths of 4.1, 5+, and 4.6 cm.
I have another check at 22 weeks next Wed.
How are you??
We've been in TX now for 6.5 years. I haven't heard of Dr. Sumners, but that means nothing. I've read some things on Abbyloopers about traditional vs. DaVinci vs. Lap, but have no personal opinions. I feel like a TAC is almost always going to be stronger than a TVC no matter how it's placed unless it was just put in completely wrong. I wanted Dr. H because I felt like mine was such a severe case since we didn't make it NEARLY close to even viability. Dr. Haney is a freaking bada$$, that's all I can say. I love that man.
Those are rockstar cervical lengths, and mine were about the same! My OB hasn't sent me to a MFM yet, and I've been in her care since day 1. I'm her first TAC patient. SHe stopped monitoring my cervix at 24 weeks (up until then I was having biweekly u/s and frankly, getting pretty spoiled). Now we're just making sure I'm not contracting and getting plenty of rest and fluids. So far, so good, and I'm hoping to make it to my scheduled c/s at 38w3d. She's on Spring Break while in the 37th week, so I'm praying I make it that far!
Keep in touch!!!

Do you like TX? it sounds nice - at least the weather does
It's been miserable here.
I was on Abbyloopers for a while but honestly I don't have time. I felt like they were a little too pro-one-way....while the traditional method is obviously proven (hey, you're a great example!), I just decided to go with my doctor's rec because he's really great. I think he and Haney are the top in the country that I'm aware of.
I'm so sorry you lost your twins so early - 17 weeks right?
That is so sad. I can't believe we are so fortunate. It makes me sad to know so many moms lose babies from IC - I know a few personally.
I'm having the biweekly u/s too and I LOVE it. haha. They were going to stop at 26 weeks but I asked if they would keep going to at least 28 weeks since I delivered at 26 last time. I just think that would give me the confidence boost I need. The biweekly u/s really help reassure me so I don't worry too much.
I haven't seen the MFM since my surgery but I think they report to him!!
I hope I can post here fairly regularly. I have a hard time keeping up here, preemie board (and photography haha) but I like to support others!
We love TX but our weather is pretty crappy here in February each year. Last year (when we lost the twins) we had 14 INCHES of snow in one day! This Feb we've already had 2 snowstorms... But the other seasons are great if you can handle the heat in the summer.
Having a preemie at 26 weeks sounds equally as terrifying. The ups and downs, I can't imagine... So glad to see your son is doing well - he's adorable! I hope you find the 28 week u/s to give you that boost. I know it reassures me to know a ton.
I dont' use abbyloopers because, frankly, I find yahoo groups to be irritating to use. You sound pretty busy, and it's good you have the extra strength the TAC will give you! Glad to "meet" another TAC mama! There are 3 of us on PgAL - lrachelle80 and SweetieD21. We all got ours around the same time, I love what it has done for us!!!!

14 inches?! ahhhH!! I despise snow.
It was very difficult, but he is OK now. I just really don't want to go through it again or worse. I wish nobody did.
I found the site hard to use too! I can't keep up with all the boards :-) I did quit my job in August because of the pregnancy, but between my doctor's appointments, Andrew therapy and doctor's appointments (he's doing fine but still facing some issues), and just life in general, it doesn't leave a lot of internet time especially if I want to spend any time with my DH. I do hop on at night and try to catch any highlights!
I hope the TAC can help all of you girls!!!
