DS2 developed a rash Sunday night, we saw it at his last diaper change and at the time it was a red dot on either side of his penis in the genital area.  We stopped using wet wipes a while ago because he gets irritated by them especially around teething time which he is on and off right now, his last molars are taking their time coming in.

We normally use cotton balls and warm water but started using disposable dry cotton wipes that we wet and keep in a wipe warmer and I replenish every day and clean (we use the anti bacterial cushion still too).  Sunday we took the kids over to granny and papaws and did some grocery shopping.  While they were there granny changed a dirty diaper but she used regular wet wipes instead of wetting a dry wipe we had in the bag.  I didn't think much of it until yesterday morning and the rash has spread and the whole genital area looks slightly puffier than normal.

I've made an appointment for this afternoon to see the Dr but I am trying to figure out what is causing it, DS1 never had anything like it and diet wise the only thing 'new' he has had is some GF bagel DH has been feeding him but he started having that last week and the rash only started Sunday night.  I am suspecting the wipes are what triggered it but usually it is his bottom that reacts to wipes not the pee-pee area.

 What do you ladies think?

Man, I have no idea; but I'd be interested to hear what the pedi has to say.  It seems odd that a wet wipe could cause such an adverse reaction.

OK the diagnosis is a yeast infection, the reason I have never seen it before in DS1 is because I am a very diligent diaper changer and I make sure he is dry before I 'seal' the diaper.  Our only guess is MIL either used scented wipes or she didn't allow him to air dry after wiping him.  DR said to continue using the wipes I have at home and prescribed some cream to clear it up.
