What is your daycare's temperature limit? Ours is 100. I'm irritated, they just called and Stella has a 100.8 temp. I'm about 99.9% certain she's teething and when she does it her temp get's up over 101 normally. I asked if they could give her orajel and tylenol first and they said no. Their doctor says that any temp over 100 is not teething related. I know in the past her temp has gotten up over 101.5 when she's teething.
I'm ready to start looking for a new daycare. What's your dc's limit for a temp? They did say that if I get a note from the doctor that she gets a higher than normal temp, she can stay. So now I need to see if I can spend $25 for a co-pay to get her into the doctor for them to write a note that says, she get's a high temp when teething.
I just want to cry, the thought of looking for a new dc stresses me out! Any suggestions on the westside?
Re: Daycare Temp Limit?
Ours is 101.
I feel like 100 is quite low, especially since that's not even considered a fever in most docs' eyes. Ella gets to 100 pretty easily when she's teething. Obviously I'm preaching to the choir here.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that - such a PITA.
BFP #2 11/4/12 EDD 7/20/12 missed M/C 12/13/12 @8w5d D&C 12/21/12
DX 2/7/13 with an alloimmunity + for anti-paternal antibodies started Lovenox daily & BA

Ditto.
I *think* ours was 100.3 when Paige was in daycare... but if she had a fever that high, she was really sick. She never got fevers when she was teething.
For keeping them home or being dismissed from daycare the temp has to be 102 or higher. Here is our policy for those lower temps:
CONDITIONS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE EXCLUSION Reason this policy is important: When a child becomes ill but does not require immediate medical help, a determination must be made whether the child requires exclusion. Most illnesses do not require exclusion. ? Common Colds, Runny noses (regardless of color or consistency of nasal discharge), and coughs. Signs and Symptoms of colds will be observed by the teacher and/or families and should be written on dailies each day. ? Fever without any signs or symptoms of illness in children who are older than 4 months. For this purpose, fever is defined as an axillary (armpit) temperature of 100?F or greater measured by a digital thermometer. *Fever is an indication of the body?s response to something, but is neither a disease nor a serious problem by itself. ? Watery eye discharge without fever, eye pain, or eyelid redness.. We also have a sickbay at DC, where even if it where a higher temp they would take the child and might let them stay there the remainder of the day if you couldn't get out of work to pick them up. It has a seperate entrance and exit and maybe even a seperate ventilation, I don't remember.OK, maybe I'm just a bad mom. She coughed the whole way home so maybe she is in fact sick
. I made an appt with the pedi prior to picking her up in order to get a note that said she has a temperature when she's teething. I guess I'll keep the appt just to have her looked at.
One of her previous dc teachers is also our babysitter and she mentioned last night that there was a case of RSV in the older infant room. I'm kinda irritated that we didn't receive notification since Stella is dropped off in that room in the morning. I guess the director didn't think it was any of "our busineess." The teachers were all pushing for them to notify the parents. I would have thought this was SOP, maybe not.
Bummer but at least rules protect everyone, I guess!
Andrew doesn't get fevers when teething, but he also rarely gets fevers with anything even ear/sinus infections!
Shady! I would definitely want to know that kind of information.
One thing I liked about our old daycare is that they would put notices up on all the classroom doors if there were any confirmed cases of anything contagious (pinkeye, croup, etc) and give more info about the signs and symptoms of it. If it was something I was more concerned about, I'd ask the director if it was in DD's classroom or not.
As for temp policy, I know the old daycare's was 100.4. They only called us once to pick her up, but she had some other symptoms too, not just the fever. Not sure what the current daycare's policy is.
Hope Stella is feeling better soon!
