The infant care or breastfeeding classes at GBMC? Were they worth the time/money? DH and I are taking the childbirth classes in March but I am torn about the other two.
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!!!

I took both of these classes not at GBMC, but at FSH. And I would probably not waste my $$ on infant care. The BF class was informational, and I got a few things out of it.

I took BF, childbirth and infant care at HoCo General.
I thought infant care was sort of good for me, but extremely helpful for my husband and a lot easier for him to learn from the nurses than me. And, I learned a few things too - like how to bath a baby that I'd never done/seen done, etc.
BF was OK and they normally discuss it in the infant care and childbirth classes anyway.
The classes are all kinda pricey, but in general if you can swing it and have time, I'd take all of them. If you can't its not a big deal, but its nice to learn in a low pressure environment.
No....I feel with the infant care we're fine. Even though this is our first both of us have some experience and we will have the help of our parents so we felt it would possibly informative but we didnt want to spend the money. If you don't have family near by though or to contact if you have ?'s it may be worth it.
I heard that the BF classes help...but keep in mind there is a lactation specialist that will visit you and provide you with everything you need when you deliver...I met her on our tour and i felt confident that it would be all I needed. They also have a BF hotline you can call anytime!
I do recommend taking the tour of L&D...it was nice to know where to go and what to expect and it's free...plus you get to see where you will be and learn the ropes before D Day.
We took infant care and felt like it was a waste but neither of us had been around tiny babies before.
I didn't take breastfeeding but I read two books on it and did a lot of my own research on the boards here and kellymom.com. I also had some relatives that had breastfed for support. I can see how this class would be better to take than infant care, especially for H to learn some pointers and ways to support you.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I didn't take them there but I found them both to be very helpful. If you don't mind the drive, you can take both classes at Special Beginnings for only $10 each.

I wish that were closer but I already commute between Owings Mills and Howard County and the GBMC for appointments and our childbirth class. I can't handle anymore time in the car

I took the bf-ing class at St. Joes and thought it was a lot of rah rah bf-ing is great/natural/easy and very little info that I could use when actually bf-ing.

I heard the same thing from a friend who took it there. She said the class actually started to turn her off the idea of bf-ing because the instructor was so "bf-ing is THE ONLY WAY." Maybe I will just wait and work with the lactation specialist.
As for infant care. I have changed plenty of diapers, I am the oldest of 7 grandkids and babysat through college. I mostly wanted the aspects presented by the pediatrician. Hmmm...

We had discussed it, but I never got around to signing us up. DD came early so we actually learned a lot from the NICU nurses.
