Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 6.5 months old
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 15 months tomorrow!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? He learned how to wave the Terrible Towel on Sunday (despite the Steelers loss, I was pretty pumped about this!). I think he is really cutting his eye teeth though - he's biting everything.
ETA: I lost my first 5 lbs on Weight Watchers (in 2 weeks)! YAY!
(3) Next appointment date? 15 month checkup
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? crankiness/teething
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?) hahaha we've never had one. my parents watched him when he was 2 weeks old so we could go to dinner, but we haven't been out since. Bedtime routine is same on weekends/weekdays
(7) What activities are you doing with your toddlers? swim class, but I have to find some more things to do with him
(8) Did you have family/friends/post pardem doula help out when you got home? What things did you have them do? my parents came the weekend we came home, and then 2 weeks later. I have to check with MH on this - I was holed up on the second floor b/c I couldn't do stairs much after the c/s.
1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 32w2d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Still feeling generally tired, slow moving and breathless but it's all good! It's fun to see this little guy get into his daily moving habits and my stomach going crazy before bed. It cracks me up
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We go to our first birthing class tomorrow night. We missed the first class last week because we had a huge snow storm come through and we wouldn't have made it in time. Luckily there is no snow in the forecast for tomorrow, but we are still thawing out our icy roads from the storm we just got yesterday.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Having energy! I have none left. All I want to do is lay down in bed because I'm uncomfortable sitting and then uncomfortable standing.
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?) We plan on having a sitter 1x/month when LO gets here so we can go on a planned date night. We actually just talked about this the other night.
(6) Anyone planning on extended breastfeeding? If so, how long? What will your nursing "routine" be? I'm crossing my fingers that I can even BF when LO arrives so I will play this one by ear.

| Family of 5 - October 24, 2012 |
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
One year and two weeks old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Tired of the snow, but happy to have the quality time at home with my family. Milestones...Libby's bottom lateral incisors have finally popped through! So she has 8 teeth and her 1 year old molars are coming in too.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Tomorrow is supposed to be her 1 year check at the pedi, but with the new snow today I bet it'll need to be rescheduled.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Milk Blister. See previous post!
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?)
My mom is our babysitter and she keeps the same schedule as we do....convenient since she lives with us!
(6) Anyone planning on extended breastfeeding? If so, how long? What will your nursing "routine" be?
I plan to try to fully wean by the time Libby is 18 months. We shall see. We just started her on cow's milk and so she'll be having that during the day while I am at work. Currently we're nursing about 6 times a day but I expect that'll drop down soon. I'd like to get to a point where she's night weaned, so that's our next little "project" since she's been sleeping in her crib for one month as of tomorrow. I will be in Chicago for 5 days next month and hope that might do the trick. We shall see!
(7) What activities are you doing with your toddlers?
Still reading and playing daily...new stuff includes rolling/throwing balls and using crayons/paper (both recommended by my Parents As Teachers Educator...I didn't know!). We sing and play with rhythm toys. As soon as the weather is nicer I want to get back to the park since I think she'd like climbing on the toddler sized equipment and try the slide! I have our first "playdate" scheduled for the 19th...we're headed to the aquarium with another mama and her DD who is 10 months old.
(8) Did you have family/friends/post pardem doula help out when you got home? What things did you have them do?
My mom was here and helped us with EVERYTHING including meals, cleaning, laundry, taking care of our pets, etc. while we adjusted to life with Libby.
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success? AF just arrived so I am charting PP cycle #2!

1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 1.5 weeks until 1
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? it was my birthday yesterday
I went to my favorite irish bar down the street, which is technically a "restaurant" so LO could come.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nothing coming up. J will have a well child check in a few weeks for age 1. I'm going to be taking him to an ND for all checkups in the foreseeable future. Had our first visit a couple of weeks ago and we love her.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Jack was sick last week. Poor guy, first time he every had so much as a slight fever.
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Besides the daily day care provider... Lately he has been spending the night with my parents about once every month and a half or so. SOOOOO nice. Otherwise we generally have something to do OOT work, a work party, or a charity event about once a month so my mom is always happy to help. Still doesn't mean we are getting lots of fun date nights or anything.
Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?) not really. He still goes to bed about the same time but can be convinced to sleep in until 8 or 9 as long as he's snuggled with us.
(6) Anyone planning on extended breastfeeding? If so, how long? What will your nursing "routine" be? I'm not much of a pre-planner. I won't actively wean until after age 2 or so but I'm just "planning" to let it work on its own accord. I have mentioned that I do no plan to pump at work after he's fully on another means of nutrition (goat milk) but I will continue to BF as he wants to when we are together. Probably 3/day at this point and more on the weekends.
(7) What activities are you doing with your toddlers? we have taken him swimming about every other week since 5mo old. Never took a class. I can't wait for toddler gymnastics and dance class.
(8) Did you have family/friends/post pardem doula help out when you got home? What things did you have them do? my grandma came over about every other day just to keep me company and help out around the house. It was so fun. I miss spending so much time with her.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 9.5 months.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Let's see...Will has started traveling along the coffee table, pulling himself up and walking along the side and I think Dash isn't far behind. They took so long to start crawling that I'm kind of surprised at how fast they're progressing to walking (they've been proper crawling for less than a month). Go figure!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? March...something. To get their tongue ties snipped.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Dash and his biting.
He only does it to me, so we're not quite sure why it's happening. It's like he gets all excited and lovey and that's his way of expressing it. Of course the problem is that it's not an appropriate way because it hurts like hell (those 6 teeth are like razors!). He's bitten me so hard that I have marks on my arms and have involuntarily screamed when he's chomped down.
The only thing I've been able to figure out to do is to instantly put him down on the floor, say, "No biting! That hurts Mama," and walk away for a minute or two. He cries and I feel bad, but it's the only thing that seems to have any effect (I've been doing it for a week and I think he's getting a bit better).
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?) Seldom. Ben's parents watch the boys once a week, but that's while we're at work. Every once in a while (less than once a month) we might go out for dinner and they'll babysit, but it's rare. On those occasions we generally get them ready for bed before we leave, since their bedtime is early enough that we can do it before we go anywhere (7pm).
(6) Anyone planning on extended breastfeeding? If so, how long? What will your nursing "routine" be? n/a
(7) What activities are you doing with your toddlers? n/a - don't have toddlers yet.
(8) Did you have family/friends/post pardem doula help out when you got home? What things did you have them do? My mother visited for 2 weeks when the boys were two weeks old. She mostly helped with feeding them, doing some household chores, that kind of thing. Occasionally she'd look after the boys for a few hours so Ben and I could grab a tiny bit more sleep!
(9) What other questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? What do you do for "me" time? How do you keep things balanced in life (work, marriage, personal goals, baby, etc.)?
Yay, you're the first one to appear twice on our list!! Added
L and C, I've added you two as well
Mrs. Ziz should be on there twice too...since Mr. Grayson is due in just and handful of weeks!

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
she'll be 15 months old tomorrow! wow!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
fun stuff
she says "ooo ooo" whenever you point to (or she sees) a monkey/gorilla b/c I've been saying "ooo ooo ah ah"
she has started helping me put each leg into the corresponding pant holes when i'm dressing her - a HUGE help b/c it seems like before she'd always pull out the first leg as I was putting the second leg in :P she also tried to put her shoes on herself - backwards of course - why is it that kids always want to put their shoes on backwards? (right on left and vice versa)
her 4th tooth came in finally! now she's got both top and bottom middle incisors
she figured out how to open the fridge! she was hungry for a snack and walked over the fridge and opened it and said "apple"
I also caught her signing "please" for the first time while saying "peez!" in her crib - it was right after a nap and I never would have known if I hadn't been watching her on the video monitor! definite perk to having video
now if only I could get her to sign it in front of me!
new words this week (in English): pee pee! (though she said this and then did NOT pee), bible, diaper, rock (when she wants to get on the rocker), owl, teeth
new words this week (in Vietnamese): mushroom, bean, fish, elephant, butterfly
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
I had my annual ob/gyn appt last week - we talked about things briefly and my ob pretty much said that with #2 if I went into labor on my own before the scheduled c/s I could attempt a VBAC if I wanted to, but that she highly doubts I'll be able to deliver #2 vaginally due to the size of my pelvic inlet
Miss A has her 15 month appt in about a week
the most exciting thing we have coming up is a trip to Puerto Rico!!!
MH is getting an all expense paid trip there for a tech conference for the hosting business he runs so we just had to pay for my airfare and a few extra nights for accommodations. (they are even paying for my meals during the conference) after all this ice/snow, I am so ready for some sunshine! The highs are going to be in the low 80s and the lows are going to be in the low 70s - woohoo! I wasn't sure if we should get a reg. hotel room or a suite b/c Miss A is used to sleeping in a separate room and I was worried she wouldn't sleep if she could see us.... the overwhelming opinion on FB was to get the suite if we could.... not sure why I didn't think of it initially but we ended up renting a condo. Lots of room and so much cheaper than getting a hotel suite - even after taxes and the cleaning fee etc it's coming out to $110/night for a 1 bedroom subpenthouse condo right on the beach!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
soooo not a real "challenge" but lately Miss A has decided that it's fun to stuff things between her legs and drop them INTO the toilet bowl when she is sitting on the toilet
I have to watch her like a hawk now with what I hand her to play with b/c she is fast!
(5) How often do you have a babysitter? Do you follow the same schedule on weekends as you do on weekdays (time baby goes to bed? wakes up?)
well we have one whenever I go to work, and then every once in a while for a date night. we really should do it once a month but right now it is more like every other month.
yes we follow the same schedule 7 days a week - I would love to do things differently on the weekends but Miss A is the one in charge
(6) Anyone planning on extended breastfeeding? If so, how long? What will your nursing "routine" be?
I never thought I'd do it but here I am at 15 months, still BFing her! before, over a year seemed old, but now that I have a 15 month old - well, she still seems like a baby to me and it doesn't seem awkward at all
I cherish the snuggle time I get w/her when she is nursing b/c she isn't much of a snuggler otherwise. I definitely don't see myself nursing her when she is 3 or 4 and probably not even over 2...but for now I have no real idea of how long I will nurse her... I plan to just go w/the flow and see how she does. she has naturally self weaned to just 4x/day now (after we dropped her AM nap) and I am happy with that. even nursing 4x instead of 6-7x makes a huge difference for me as far as feeling like I have more freedom and somewhat have my body back! I also thinking that making the decision to stop pumping at work has lifted a huge weight/stress off my shoulders and makes me way more inclined to continue extended nursing.
(7) What activities are you doing with your toddlers?
I like to take her to the library for "baby bounce basics" - they basically do story time, songs, etc and I bounce her around, lift her up in the air etc. to the songs and nursery rhymes. although she is still at the independent play stage, I think she still enjoys seeing the other babies there - I mean, even I do
it's pretty neat to see 30 babies all bouncing around in unison
when the weather is nicer here I'd like to start taking her to the park. she LOVES to play outside. I'll probably also start taking her to some of the special events are the museum
otherwise most of our activities are indoors. we do colors/shapes/numbers w/blocks. take things out and put them back into various containers/toys. draw/color. but ultimately her favorite activity is reading books. we ID different animals, shapes, colors, etc in the books and she will do that for hours on end!!!
(8) Did you have family/friends/post pardem doula help out when you got home? What things did you have them do?
my mom was here to help me when I got home. she basically took care of all the cooking/cleaning post partem (huge help!!!) but not much of the baby stuff. at that point I was shouldering most of the responsibility of Miss A's care. I'd of course let my parents hold her and what not but when it came to her actual care I pretty much did everything. I hated to wake my mom up at night to have her help me but in hindsight I really should have accepted her help while she was here - it would have been a lot easier to just get up, nurse her, and then hand her off to someone else to diaper and put her back to bed!

so glad you shared this, it's exactly what I'm hoping will happen with me!
you know, I never realized how much stress it was causing me... I did not really think it was that big of a deal (everywhere I work has always been very accommodating)....it was only after I stopped that I realized it! I no longer had to worry about how to fit it in between appointments (or hope for a no show!) or having people wait on me, I didn't have to rush back from my lunch to squeeze in a session, etc it's been very liberating

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 3 months old
