TOTS moms

do you bring your kid to TOTS if they have a cold? (no fever, just a runny nose)

I don't typically see other sick kids - I'm hypersenstive to it so I lean towards no, but, I've polled 4 people and so far I have 2 yes and 2 no's....

I can only go like 3 times all semester (been twice since thanksgiving) and I'm uber bummed to miss.  But that shouldn't sway my answer. :) I haven't seen any other sick kids in his room (small room of only a couple kids) and he' s never gotten sick from TOTS.

Re: TOTS moms

  • If I think it is/was a virus and he has had it long enough that it should have run its course, then yes.  If it's a new thing, I usually don't.

Also, if it's just the sniffles, clear runny nose type, then yes.  If it's obviously snotty and gross, then no.

I asked a pedi about colds and transfer, and she says that by the time you see symptoms, kids are usually less contagious than the few days before the symptoms, so as long as they have had at least 2 fever free days before the event/outing, and they have had the symptoms for a couple of days, she was fine with sending them.  She said that we can't lock toddlers up all winter long, and that kids, on average, will have 7-9 colds each winter season, so if it's not from you, they'll get a cold from somewhere else, lol.  (and yes, I know A is a different case)  But we did go with a runny nose, specifically because she told us to go.

  • He has a cleary runny nose and no other symptoms (well yesterday, he's still asleep)

    He just started yesterday!

I'm gonig to see how he is when he wakes up!
