Sippy vs straw cup

I bought the munchkin first sippy with soft spout and a straw cup - DD seems to be doing better with the straw cup although it is a lot of chewing on the straw and a sip (which surprises her) every now and then - the munchkin sippy is impossible even for me and dh - i am returning it - I couldn't find nuk learner sippies locally so I also tried the take and toss which seem easier to drink from - Anyone else's lo go straight to a straw cup?

Re: Sippy vs straw cup

  • K only uses a straw cup (or a regular straw when we're out). She never used a regular sippy.

My ped actually recommends not using a sippy at all and going straight to either a straw or regular cup.

  • S uses sippys, but really prefers the straw cup. She has got some suction power, those straws are hard to get anything out of, lol:-)

  • We started her on a sippy cup because we had some, but she never really got anything out of them.  Our pedi suggested a straw cup at her 9 mos. appointment, and she really became a champion straw cup user.  Interestingly enough, she's now better at using the sippy cups now, too.

  • We don't use sippies. We use straw cups for water and take n toss for milk with meals. We could probably just use straw cups exclusively but we only have 3 of them and we are working on drinking from a regular cup (we can use the take n toss without the lid so no point to buying more straw cups.)
