(sorry to those that don't have one close)
I need more rec's. Like Sandra, I haven't tried the bruchetta (which, btw does sound great for chicken), I feel like I'm missing out. What are your favorite items there (plus points for quick/healthy dinner options!)
Re: f/u Trader Joes, your favs?
I haven't been able to find it for a little while (and haven't really tried, since Whole Foods is in a more convenient location), but when I was younger and we'd fly to the mainland, my mom would buy tubs of the chocolate covered graham crackers.
Heeeeaven. I'd take them and stash some in my room so my brother couldn't eat them all.
ETA: Okay, so I just realized, my response is not at all helpful. Not healthy or for dinner. Hah. But it is a tasty snack... ?
this is just the opposite for us. I can't find a convenient Whole Foods near me!
And I think I answered this before - Bruschetta! Although I'm totally fond of their Cranberry Orange Scones too
For quick dinners, I love their seasoned turbot fillets from the freezer seafood section, as well as their mushroom turnovers and spinach & artichoke dip. Other things I get fairly often is the chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches (my favorite!), tofutti blintzes (for quick breakfasts), seafood crab cakes, and edamame. I also like using their frozen organic fruits for making smoothies (with their mango lemonade as the base)--really yummy! And I also love their garlic herb pizza dough for pizzas.
The bruschetta is really yummy. I cut up some organic basil (also from TJ's), garlic, onions, and tomatoes and mix it in with theirs to add some more "freshness" to it with fresh veggies and serve it on toasted french or baguette. Sometimes I even put a bit of mozzarella on top and bake it in the oven.
MH and I love fondue and I always get my Gruyere and Emmental cheese from TJ's to make it. I also pick up their bagged cut broccoli and mushrooms and bread from TJ's for the fondue.
I also get their three-grains blend and make mushroom risotto often (based on the recipe on the back of the box).
When we lived in San Jose we pretty much did 90% of our weekly grocery shopping at TJs. Of course I haven't shopped them much since 2008, but our TJ favs:
--Chocolate covered caramels
-- JoJos (and at Christmas, their peppermint JoJos)
--Tempting Trail Mix
--Flax Seed Tortilla Chips
--Almond Meal (for baking and cooking fish, etc.)
--All their organic store brand stuff: dairy, sundries, baked goods, produce, pantry items, coffee/tea, vitamins, etc.
--Forest Glen Cab Franc (could only ever find it at TJs) and other wines like Two Buck Chuck!
--Orange Blossom Soap
--Bulk nuts and dried fruit
-- Wed get their frozen pizzas and bake them up and make a salad for a quick and easy dinner or lunch
--We also used their different simmer sauces...like mojito and green curry. Yum, yum!
