Success after IF

I need party favor ideas

For DD's first birthday (which is a look whoo's 1 theme) party we will have kids ranging from 8 years-old down to 16 months old (and a mix of boys and girls).

What are some good party favor ideas?  I hate to buy crappy things that people will just throw away, but at the same time I would love to give out something fun or useful.

What is something that you have gotten or given that you thought was worthwhile?  Thanks!

It took over four years to be diagnosed with PCOS. We TTC #1 for 18 months, did 5 rounds of Clomid and finally moved onto IVF...which worked! Throughout our IF journey, we suffered 3 miscarriages. We conceived both DD and DS without treatment.

Re: I need party favor ideas

  • I always do edible favors since I know someone will eat it. I have done chocolate covered pretzels, usually I dip the pretzels in chocolate then drizzle it with a colored chocolate and throw some sprinkles on. Tie them up in a clear baggy.

I also did little glass jars of colored m&m's before and everyone said they thought they were a great idea.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • Because of the wide range of ages, I did a candy bar! And made personalilzed tags for the bags, adults and all the older children loved it!

  • I just ordered chocolate lollipops from Etsy (Lisalollies) and they were a huge hit for a baby shower I just threw.  They were pretty, fast shipping, reasonably priced and most importantly, delicious!

I love the "look whooo's 1" theme too!  I bet she could make owl lollipops.  How fun!

  • I would go with edible favors- I did chocolate monkey lollipops for DD's birthday- tied them with a big pink bow and had favor tags made.

You could do marshmallows dipped in chocolate, owl shaped sugar cookies- or big colorful whirly pops. I would have something on the favor tag like- Thanks for making my birthday a hoot! Love, DD- or something like that!

    Good luck!

Our Journey from two to three! 3 IUI's, 2 IVF's, decided to move to foster/adopt. 12/24/2009 Baby C born, 2/1/2010 placed with us, 5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Thank you all so much for your ideas :)  I love them all!  I bought an owl chocolate lollipop mold to try out.  I was not sure if I was going to have owl pops around during party time or as favors.  I love the suggestion of the little tag to include.  I am so excited about her party!

  • That was our theme, too:) We had the party at our local ecology center, for favors I made mini terrarium kits (using old baby food jars). In the bag I put all the supplies for making the terrarium and then a sheet that listed directions on how to make it and care for it. It went over really well!

Do you have a list of supplies and the directions?  Those sound really cool and a bunch of the boys that are attending the party would be really into that.  Thanks!

  • It was time consuming but I did :

Everyone loved them, adults alike. We printed out coloring pages to match our theme and had a bucket full of these.

I can email you the file I made and printed for the directions. PM me your email address and I can send it when I get home.
