NCDR - former STTN waking at night? help!

DD used to STTN no problem. Literally, for months she would NEVER wake up at night except for when she had a cold. She used to sleep in too, and wake up with a grin on her face... it was fantastic. Was.

*sigh*

Lately, 5 am has turned into witching hour at our house. This has happened on at least 4 different occasions over the last 2 weeks including last night (and I had to work early today). She wakes up crying and all upset. Screaming even. I change her, feed her, put her back down and she's okay again....

Has anyone's LO done this? I was thinking maybe its teething but she doesn't seem unusually uncomfortable.

I'm just so bloody exhausted. I thought those sleep-deprived nights were behind us. I need to figure this out. :(

  • I vote teething or growth spurt.  DD was doing the same thing at your DD's age & is back to STTN now.  Does she have teeth?  DD tends to do that when a tooth is getting ready to come through also.

Although I don't feel too sorry for you since it sounds like this is the first time you've ever gone through this...Stick out tongue

  • My guess is a growth spurt, if she's fine after you feed her. If you think it's teeth, maybe try a little tylenol before you put her down. That seemed to help Reese not becao restless. She would wake up fussy, but not screaming like a lunatic!

  • DD is a great sleeper. That being said, she was up at least one night a week over the last month, no reason whatsoever. The worst part was, most of the time I couldn't just change her and put her down or she'd get hysterical. So that night she'd end up in bed with me so we could get a hint of rest.

She has 2 new teeth this week.

  • I have no advice, but I would just like to tell you that i feel your pain. DS STILL wakes up every 2-3 hrs....I am a walking zombie. Yesterday one of my patients told me that I look pale and asked whats wrong with me! Let me know if you find something that works!

She has 2 teeth on the bottom. One came up on New Years and one came up on Jan 29th (8 months to the day). She has woken up a random night here and there, but not like this. Not screaming and totally miserable. She never wakes up when DH is home to help. Only when I'm home alone.

Yep, my DD gets crazy hysterical too. As soon as I put her on the changing table to change her diaper, she literally goes berzerk. Then it takes a while for her to calm down and eat. Luckily, she will eventually calm down and I'm able to get her back to bed but wow, the kid can scream!

  • My DD started waking up screaming about a month ago:(  We have had on night that she slept 13hrs!  She gets up at least once a night screaming and will not go back to sleep. I hope this is a phase that she out grows soon!!  Good luck hopefully your LO will sleep better tonight:)

DD is fine on the changing table, but as soon as she senses me lowering her into the crib, she goes ballistic. Last week she went back to going back to sleep after I changed her, thank goodness. This morning she was up and inconsolable at 6am. Good times.

  • My DS is having sleep issues recently too, and I think our kiddos are about the same age if I remember your ticker correctly.  The past few days he's been waking up twice a night to eat.  He goes back down pretty easily, but he eats like he's been starved.  I'm thinking it's just a growth spurt.
