I was thinking about getting one for dh but hate to add another monthly expense - if it could be a one time splurge, I'd be more inclined. I've tried reading online and I *think* it's an option to just get wi-fi and use it only where there is wi-fi (like at home). But is that dumb? think I'd regret not getting the other one that needs the monthly data plan?
I'm technically challenged. If I did this, I'd like to surprise dh that's why I can't ask him ;-)
he doesn't NEED it and I think just wants one for fun.
Re: ipad for dummies - please?
I personally feel like you need the 3G, but I use it out and about and don't always have wifi available to me. I guess if you just used it at home or places where there's wifi you wouldn't need the 3G.
You could get the iPad that offers 3G and just not purchase the monthly plan. That way you have it on your iPad if down the road you decide you'd rather start using the 3G....
again, sorry, I'm an idiot with this stuff
is the 3G just giving me the capability to use it where I don't have wifi? or is the speed better too? basically...if I get the 3G but don't buy the monthly plan, am I gaining anything? (other than having the ability to buy it later, should we choose to)
