Do you remember how a new baby gets one?  I believe I filled some paperwork out at the hospital and it will come to us in the mail but I can't be certain.  Anyone remember how they did it?

DH filled out the paperwork in the hospital. Her SS card came in the mail within 2 weeks.

We filled out the birth certificate paperwork in the hospital.  A woman collected, processed, and returned it to us all typed up.  She sent away for the Social Security card when she typed up the birth cert info.  We sent away for the actual birth certificate ourselves.

We also filled out the paperwork at the hospital and got it in the mail.  For his birth certificate I thought I had done the same but ended up going to the records office and picked it up there.

I imagine you can go to the social security office and get one there for your DC.
