My papers from the doctor say to drink 32 oz. of water. Are you kidding me? I can't take 2 sips without having to pee! How did you all do it? And did you really drink that much?

I was told to drink 24 ounces and got 20 ounces down. And the best part was that about 20 minutes into the scan they made me empty my bladder. I did all that for nothing. Good luck!
I love how the amounts are different for everyone. I say do your best and hopefully they won't say anything. I have to drink 16oz I think and be done an hour before the appointment.
I love how every doctor is different when doing the same test. I just drank my normal amount and when I go there I asked if I should pee and they said lets see what the baby is doing. Well, the baby was sleeping and not cooperating so they asked me to empty my bladder. The baby started moving more afterwards and they were able to get more accurate measurements.
I was told to finish drinking 1 hour before the appointment. Because they had to rechedule my scan due to spotting and called me 40 minutes before I had to be at the office, I just drank whatever I could find. I thought I was going to empty my bladder on the u/s table. After the scan was done and I used the restroom, the tech told me one 12-16 oz. bottle of water is usually plenty.
So the receptionist was telling people 32 oz. and the tech is telling me 12-16 oz.

Every doc is different I guess because I was told not to go to the bathroom at least 1hr prior to the u/s and everything was fine. (thank God b/c I had a real hard time drinking 32oz. 1hr prior to my 1st u/s at 9wks!)
I drank 40 oz of water and it was the worst feeling in the world...i was holding my jeans up to my crotch to prevent myself from peeing! i was pacing back and forth in the waiting room as my mom and DH were sitting there calmly wondering why i was looking like i was going to burst! i asked the secretary to see if they can please get me in the back ASAP b/c i can't hold it..they said that i can let a little out, but keep most in...yea, that's not possible...once it starts, there's no stopping it! so, IMO, drink a regular bottle an hour before and your bladder will be full....trust me, 40 oz is overdoing it and you won't be able to lie down without your bladder bursting..i was shaking in pain...it was dramatic and i went to the bathroom twice (a full min each) within 15 mins of each other...terrible experience (until i saw the heartbeat...then the world stopped!)!
They told me 32 oz. of water and hold it. I drank probably around 20oz, and peed right before the scan. (I couldn't hold it, it was too painful.) But with that amount of water, my bladder was full again by the time I rode the elevator up and got to the waiting room.
I was told to drink 26 oz of water...I did and felt like I was going to pee myself. The tech said "I can already tell that you are too full just in the way you are acting". She looked for the baby and couldn't find LO b/c my bladder was taking up the whole screen! Then she had me empty my bladder part of the way and then eventually had me empty it all the way. I have no clue why they tell you to drink so much! Especially when you (or at least I) feel like you have to pee all the time to begin with!

I have my NT scan tomorrow...the nurse in the ob office told me to drink water before but do the best I could without having to pee myself...when they called to confirm my nt scan (its at the hospital and not my ob office) I asked how much water i have to drink and she told me none they dont worry about that anymore. So now Im totally confused haha...my scan is at 9 am so gonna eat and drink my normal breakfast at 8 am and maybe an extra glass of water to be safe

My Dr's office said at least 16 oz, aim for 20. They just need you to have a full bladder so that they can get the best pictures of the baby. When I went for my son, I peed right before the time they told me to start drinking the water, and I was able to drink the full 20 oz and have the scan without peeing myself.. but I feel like my bladder is way smaller this time around so I don't know if I'll make the full 20 oz this time. I say, do your best to get as much in as possible and hope for the best.
