Well, went to see the doctor who was covering for my doctor Friday morning. Michael is coughing and wheezing. The doctor was great and thorough. He said he could hear "rowles (sp?)" in his lungs and that indicated that he had pnemonia in both lungs. They put the oxygen sat monitor on his finger and it read 74%. They put an oxygen mask on him and walked him down the hall and up the elevator to have him admitted to the hospital. (His appointment was at 10:30 and we were sitting in the hospital room getting a breathing treatment at 11:30.) They had to stick him twice to get an IV in and three times to get blood (poor little baby.) Tim showed up with his neice (dead car battery) at noon. He brought clothes for himself but for some reason thought that I would be going home Friday night to sleep???!!!!!! The next two days are a blurr but the highlights are Michael's IV in his arm coming out of the vein and filling up his tissues in his arm with fluid (He looked like a lopsided Popeye.) Three more sticks before he got an IV in his foot. That ment that he could not stand up because the IV might come out, which it did this morning and left blood all over the hospital crib. Michael could not sleep in the crib because of all the wires and IV tubes so we slept together in the very lumpy hospital bed and Tim slept on the foldaway cot.
I can not say too many good things about the hospital though. It is a small local hospital that my doctor is affliated with and it only had four pediatric beds. However, after about 3pm Saturday, we were the only people in the Pediatric wing. So we had the nurse's attention all to ourselves. The kitchen went over and beyond to make sure that Michael had something on his tray that he would eat. (At least four choices at each meal. I was in the cafeteria when they were making a tray for the four year old on the floor and the worker said that they always take care of "their babies.") The only wrinkle was that the nurse on day shift had been a therapy client of mine several years ago. It took her several hours to remember who I was and it was not an issue.
It is now after 9pm and Michael just went to bed. @#$#@$ Prednisone. We have that for three days and then I hope it will be back to normal.
BTW, we got the nebulizer. The ER (grrrr) has machines that they loan out until we can have one delievered tomorrow. I do not think that the doctor. We might have avoided the hospital stay. I am just thrilled to be sleeping in my own bed tonight.
Re: F/U to Trip to ER or My weekend just got better and better
I'm so glad that Michael is doing OK now! That must have been SO scary considering how young he is. I hope he fully recovers soon.

Wow, what a rough weekend!
I'm so sorry to hear about Michael's sickness. No doubt having you snuggle with him has helped him feel better!
I hope you're back home by now. There is no better place to be
