longshot...but DS just came down with a highish fever and burning eyes...

I thought he was just tired from the double sleepovers so I wasn't surprised at seven when he crashed on the sofa at a friend's house...She was moving him to a bed when she realized he had a fever...it went from 102.1-103.1 while we where getting him meds...it still has only gone down to 102.1...

He also started coughing around this time and complaining of burning eyes! He sounds congested now also...any ideas? So weird that it came on suddenly! The burning eyes is throwing me for a loop...that's usually allergies for me...and I certainly never get a 103.1 fever with allergies!

I feel so bad for him!

Maybe his eyes are really dry?  I have no clue.  I hope he feels better soon!  If you havent already try putting vicks vapor rub on his feet and then put socks on him.  I did that with L the night he had a fever and bad/deep cough.  I didnt want it to go to his chest so I did it anyways.

  • will try the vicks! I just bought some a couple of weeks ago when he was sick! He loves the smell of it too.

  • Maybe the flu?  Both of my DS's had it a few weeks ago and now that you mention it, my older DS did say that his eyes were hurting and he was rubbing them when he first spiked a fever.  I thought that maybe it was his head that was hurting but later he told me his brain hurt so I'm pretty sure his eyes were hurting as well.

Poor guy :(   Hopefully some rest and meds will make him feel better.  For us it was pretty obvious pretty quickly that DS had the flu (high fever, chills, extreme lethargy etc).  Tamiflu helped us all a ton.

Hopefully for you guys is't just a virus.  Good luck! :)

  • ugh, poor little guy.  I know my eyes burn when I'm not feeling well and all I want to do is close them.  Good luck. Hope he feels better soon.

  • DS complains about his eyes burning when he has a fever, too.  I think it's just just that his whole face feels warm.  I'd wait it out and call the doc if the fever lasts more than a couple of days.
