Where to find resources

Hi all!

I'm newly expecting, previous birth was an unscheduled C/S due to Pre-e and failure to progress. I would love to have a VBAC the second time around, but the local birthing center and most hospitals don't offer it.

Is there a link of resources (I have found my local ICAN chapter and will visit them soon) where info is available on who/where supports VBACs?

My local ICAN website lists out area hospitals, whether they allow vbac, and what the vbac % is. Maybe yours does as well? Also, check out the local ICAN forums, the mamas on that mesage board may have specific doctors/practices to look into.

ICAN's main website also has an area you can look up hospitals in your area and if they have a ban or other stipulations around VBAC's.  It's not always up to date, but a good place to start looking.  The local lists, if they're active, are great for more current information, too!

Here's ICAN's list of hospitals and whether they allow VBAC or not.  Not sure how up to date it is.  You could also contact some midwives, childbirth educators, doulas or La Leche League leaders in your area--they will usually know who's doing VBACs.  If there is a local message board or Yahoo/Google group for your area, they might be a good resource too.  GL

Ditto going to doulas/midwives, etc if you can find those resources in your community.  My pedi is actually who helped me find my VBAC doctor - I knew she was active in the natural birth/parenting community and she attends many of the births as they are the on call pedi office for one of the hospitals here.
