When to send out baby announcements?

We're getting our pics done by Allison Thursday, but with her going on maternity leave soon (March) I don't know if we'll get the edited copies before then.  I'm thinking April will be way too late to send them out.  Should I just upload some that we've taken and send them out now?  I'll probably end up sharing the pro pics on FB later anyways.

Could you ask her for at least a couple edited pics before she goes on leave? It seems to me she would have time to at least do that for you. But I really don't think April is too late to send them if you had to wait!

I think anything within the first year is considered OK for birth announcements.  I sent ours out this week but I also was on the phone to our local photog on the way home from the hospital and we had pics done with Serena at 3 days old.
