Infertility

First IUI, natural cycle.

Hi all,

DH and I had our first IUI on Wednesday following a natural cycle. DH has male factor infertility (low volume, morphology, testosterone) and has been taking Clomid for about two months; to our delight it sounds as if we went at it with solid numbers...normal volume, concentration, morphology, awesome motility, etc. Let the TWW begin!

Curious whether anyone - in particular anyone experiencing male-factor infertility - has had luck this way? How many IUIs did it take before your BFPs? At what point did you decide to try IUI with injectables? Apparently we need three cycles with injectables before insurance will foot the bill for IVF. Thoughts?

Happy Superbowl Sunday!

  • Well, this is the infertility board so you aren't going to find people here who have had a lot of success. Might have better luck on the SAIF or PAIF board.  Good luck!

  • I don't have an answer to your question, but I was wondering what the count was for YH on the first test and  how you have gotten it to come up? GL to you. I pray this is your turn!

  • We are in the same situation with low everything and testosterone issues. We only did one unmedicated iui but then decided to move on the ivf because we are oop and we found out I have low ovarian reserve. We didn't want to waste anymore time or money on iui's. Good luck to you guys!

  • Count was ok, actually. Volume was low (under one). Don't recall specifics. Morphology was zero. Testosterone was also low which is, we think, the cause of some of the other issues. He's still undergoing tests to determine why the testosterone was low in the first place.

He's taking Clomid (50mg, three times per week).  At IUI last week, count was 125 million. Volume had improved to 1.5. Morphology was at 54 percent.

Thanks for the prayers. SO back at you!

  • We are dealing with MFI also- low volume, low morph.  We did two unmedicated IUIs, both BFNs.  We just did our first medicated cycle- I took 100mg of Clomid with an ovidrel trigger.  I won't know if it's successful until next week though.  MH's numbers did look better this time, I think it may have been a combo of quitting smoking, vitamins/supplements and acupuncture, but maybe it was just a fluke.

    Good luck to you :)
