Moms and moms-to-be of twins - clicky poll

I'm reading Dr. Luke's book and she gives some statistics that are making me curious.  She says that fraternal twins are more common than identical.  Of fraternal twins, 50% are boy/girl, 25% are girls and 25% are boys.  I've only been on this board for a little over a week and it seems that (just based on tickers and pics I've seen) same sex twins are more common than boy/girl twins. [Poll]

Re: Moms and moms-to-be of twins - clicky poll

  • There are more same sex on here b/c you're getting the 50% same sex fraternal (25% boy, 25% girl) and the same sex ID's.  You have to take into consideration your sampling, this isn't just a board for ID MoM's or frat MoM's.  I think the ID/frat ratio is pretty close on here (I think there's a ID/frat poll in the FAQ's at the top though).
  • I have fraternal boys. Same-sex twins are more common overall because if 50% of frats are same-sex and all IDs (which make up 1/3 of twins) are same-sex, then same-sex twins would be the majority ... They would make up 2/3 of all twins, if my math is right. ;) (No guarantees on that; it's late!)

  • I *think mine at frats (boys obviously)  but we aren't 100% sure.
