What to expect at 1st Dentist appointment?

Jack and Emmy are going to the dentist tomorrow.  Jack saw the dentist once before, but this will be a different one since we have moved.

I was surprised that they will see Emmy at 2 years (our old dentist saw them after 3).  What should I expect them to do with her?  Will they put her in the chair, do a cleaning etc?  I know every dentist is different, just curious what yours did, if you took them around age 2.

HAve not gone yet, but my ds will be three soon I guess I need to think about taking him. Was your DS 3 when you took him for the 1st time?

DS didn't go until he was three either, but I imagine it would be about the same.  They will probably do as much of a cleaning as she will let them.  For DS, they were lucky they got to even look at his teeth, he was having none of it.    Good luck!

Eric went to the dentist for the first time when he was 2 yrs 5 months.  They would have liked to do a full cleaning but E would not allow the electric toothbrush/cleaner-thing in his mouth so they just brushed his teeth with a regular brush and then had me hold him down to keep his mouth open so they could eval his teeth and jaw.  He just went for the third time last week and FINALLY got through the cleaning without crying
