Really, come to my house. Except it's like a full day's drive for most people. And there's nowhere that's central to everywhere on the nest. That's sucky. That's why it will never happen. BUT I will buy the booze and the food if everyone comes here! I won't make you eat weird health food, I promise!
I WOULD try to make it somewhere else but I have so much going on from March-November OOT. And of course I'm going to make myself more important here.
Anyone have a huge house where we could all stay for free? Hopefully no one's a murderer, because that would suck. The board would be so slow if we were all slashed by a crazy. Mine's not huge, but I have room for 10-12, plus we can all cuddle really tight at night.
yeah, not going to happen. Can we have a group skype?
Re: Um, so the nestie GTG attempt #4000
I would SOOO love to!
And it sounds so fun and good, in theory. Then reality sinks in, for me anyway. And I realize that I would be leaving my husband and kids and hopping on a plane (or taking a long car ride) to visit someone I've never even met before. That would be a VERY hard sell for Joe. He doesn't want me traveling to NYC by myself next week to meet up with someone I HAVE met....and that's only 2.5 hours away.
I still have high hopes that someday it WILL happen and there would be a large majority of us meeting up somewhere -- maybe even Chateau Goodhearted!
I think we should rent a huge beach house. Co and I rented one on the Outer Banks a few years ago, and it was seriously a mansion for like $1200 (which was off season, but still split a bunch of ways - it's cheap!).
My suggestion is Hilton Head, because I love it there and it's only 6 hours from me.
I also think trying to get to the DC or NYC area would be fun just because those are easy places to get to (and generally fairly cheap if you have a major airport nearby), plus there are a lot of nesties in those general areas.
I totally love the beach house idea!!
Otherwise, I was gonna suggest going to a resort in Cancun or something. That's usually pretty cheap as vacations go. Or Destin FL (or around there) has relatively cheap condos. My mom could get us some great rates on off season condos on the west coast of FL from her Snowbird friends if we wanted to go there. :-)
(Can you tell I'm totally a beach girl? Give me a beach and a frozen alcoholic drink of any kind and I'm happy.)
Side note - I will be in Massachusetts/New England for a week or more this July if anyone's interested in meeting up. We're having a big family reunion the weekend of the 4th and I'm thinking of trying to stay longer (if I'm brave enough to fly at least one way by myself) to visit family and friends. We only get up there every two years or less so I need to make the most of it. Just gotta make sure I don't have any bookings the weekend before or after.
You snatches. The biggest, and greatest, of all nestie get togethers will be my wedding.
Start saving now, you have a few years.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

I'd be down for a beach house, as long as the trip doesn't cost me thousands of dollars. I just don't have it. I vote for renting something that we can split and make relatively cheap and bringing booze and eating in a lot. I can't be the only one on a budget here! DH is taking a promotion that's also taking quite the paycut. It's going to get worse.
SLORES! I was all about the NYC one. We just couldn't get ourshitogether b/c of a series of unfortunate events. However, I'm down to meet anyone who wants to east.
At any rate, there are several insanely GORGE houses in the OBX that sleep 30-40 people. Rates run from $20K/week (in season) to $4K/week (off season). Something like that could be done for $500 (or less) per person. Could you even imagine? It would be ridonkulous. And, I'm sure there would be a couple "keeping the peace" calls to the local po-po, don't you?
Just sayin.
Dude, I'd totally go for a GTG chez GHM. ;-)
I'm serious though- as soon as this nasty weather is done with for the season I have every intention of meeting you guys in Louisville or wherever.
This! I was so excited about that one, before it fizzled. My house is big- 5 beds, 6 baths, but I think my H might have me committed for insanity if I invited a bunch of internet friends
I think we need to go cheaper than $500/person!
Or we can do a segregated GTG--rich girls and poor girls. LOL. Really, I have too many trips this year to pay $500 for housing plus gas and food and booze. Don't let me rain on the parade, though!
Cleo, come on down!
