right after they wake up in the am and come out of their crib/bed? Go right to playing? Eat breakfast? Go into your bed and cuddle/read/watch a tv program? Do something else? I'm curious...share away!
I was going to post the same question! I'm hoping to get rid of the morning bottle soon and I'm wondering what to do as soon as they wake up. They're used to watching some Baby Einstein while drinking bottles. I've tried replacing the bottles with sippy cups and they weren't falling for it at all...
First thing we do is change her diaper and her clothes.
Then we head downstairs for a sippy of milk and some breakfast.

DS has a cup of milk first thing in the morning. Then I change his diaper and clothes. I usually have to wait about 30 minutes after he's had milk to give him breakfast because he's usually full from it.
At that age, she got out of her crib and immediately started playing in her room. Before I got her out, I would grab a cup of coffee and we would just lounge on the floor and play. She would play for up to an hour before breakfast!
On weekdays it's hectic, because we have to leave for daycare, but she gets a dipaer change, changed into school clothes and then an 8 oz bottle. I try to cuddle with her during her bottle, but sometimes, I still have things that need to be done, so she'll drink her bottle on her own.
On weekends, she is a cuddler in the morning. She gets a diaper change, changed out of PJs and into comfy clothes (if we aren't going anywhere before her nap) and then cuddle with Mommy/Daddy while she drinks her bottle. Then we read books, watch Sesame Street/Mickey's Clubhouse/etc. for about half an hour. At that point, she's typically ready to get down and play.
Once we wean her from the bottle, she'll probably follow the same pattern, but get a sippy of milk instead.
After I get DD from her crib, we go downstairs and change her diaper (I leave her in her pjs for awhile unless her diaper has leaked). Then she gets her reflux meds and has a cup of milk and either 1/2 banana or small bowl of dry cereal. Usually she sets the milk and bowl down on the coffee table or her little couch and plays while she snacks. I usually watch the Today Show for a bit and then put on a DVRd episode of Sesame Street if she asks for it.
She usually eats breakfast about 30-60 minutes after her morning snack (either bread with melted cheese or oatmeal these days). She loves to help me make it, so that entertains her for a bit too
It depends on how much pain I'm in really. Usually I go down to warm a bottle before I go in to get him. By then he's happily thrown both loveys and everything else out of his crib. Then I either change him while he has his bottle (if i'm in sever pain) or I lounge in the glider while he takes his bottle on me. Then I get him dressed, if I haven't already, and we go to my older son's room to play while he gets dressed. Then we head downstairs for coffee and breakfast. Then we take my older son to school.
Diaper change. Then he plays with his mega blocks (every single morning) for awhile, then it's breakfast. He usually is not hungry for breakfast for about 30 minutes.
I can barely restrain him long enough to change his sopping wet diaper. Then he RUNS out of his room to go play. I have no idea how long he would wait to eat breakfast if left to his own devices, but I usually take my time getting the food on the table. He eats about 1/2 hr after getting up (on days he doesn't have to go to DC).
After the diaper change, we go into the kitchen and I make her breakfast and then straight into the highchair to eat...when my DH gets her up, he lets her play a little (10-15 mins) before he puts her in the chair to eat.

Blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl on 11/22/2009.
The wait, though heartbreaking, was well worth it.
Diaper change first. Then, we go into the bathroom so I can go. Then we go downstairs and I get his sippy cup of milk and we sit a few minutes in the chair and watch the Today Show. It usually takes about 20-30 minutes before LO is hungry. Sometimes he'll get down and play but mostly that's our time to "wake up" before breakfast.
When DS wakes up, he grabs the board books in his crib and "reads" them. When I come into the room, he shoves a book into my hand and makes me read it to him while standing there. I then take him out of the crib and he'll climb onto his bed (there's a queen-sized mattress on the ground next to his crib), grab more books from the bed, and give them to me to read to him. After a few books, I eventually then persuade him to go downstairs to eat breakfast.
Sometimes the diaper waits a bit, sometimes breakfast is immediate due to crappy previous dinner, etc. Usually he gets a fresh diaper and milk first thing, just not always in the same order.
Contemplating the snow.

Usually cry while I change his diaper. After that is over then he eats his breakfast. If it is going to take me a while to make his food then he will have a snack while playing and/or watches tv. He is always starving in the morning and likes to eat right away!

Crawls out of his bed and into mine (anywhere from 4am on) and usually falls back to sleep til about 9am. Then he plays in his PNP until his bottle is ready at which time, he drinks and I changed his diaper and clothes, then it's out to the playroom to play until lunchtime.

diaper change first.... then, when i'm working it's into the car w/a bottle of milk while i drive him to my parent's house. on the weekends or when i'm not working it's into the family room so he can drink his milk in his highchair.
We change diapers and then he goes downstairs. He eats breakfast slowly over an hour or two so he might have his toast with cream cheese right away and muffin + fruit later.
I've had a reeeeeally hard time waking up since I got my BFP, so I've been getting DS out of his crib, changing his diaper, and then laying on the floor with him while he plays. It gives me a few minutes to slowly wake up, and since he's content, we're going with it for now.
After 15 minutes or so, he starts signing to eat, so we start on breakfast.
On days I don't work, I run downstairs and get a sippy cup with milk, take him out of the crib, change his diaper, and then he cuddles with me in our bed while drinking his milk and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
The first three things we do are diaper, get dressed and have breakfast. Depending on how whiny he is, he might get breakfast first and then the other two.
Re: What does LO do first thing in the morning...
#1 is diaper change! Woo hoo!
Then, we go into our bedroom so I can pee, brush my teeth, and change out of my nightgown and into my mom clothes.
Then, we come downstairs and I set Bean down on the floor to play & I make his breakfast while the Today Show is on.

She eats a banana and watches nick jr for about 10 minutes, while I finish getting ready.
Our family blog
DS's first words in the morning in chronological order:
"Done." (sleeping)
"Mama, up"
"Nana" (banana)
So we go from bed to eating (usually a banana if we have them).
I wish we had time for a diaper change before that, but he's a first-thing-eat, second-thing-diaper kind of a guy.
Diaper, milk, play, breakfast ...

We play together for most of the morning.
