Do any of you use a bike trailer for ds?

Does dc wear a helmet? Do You? 

 

 

 

We have a bike trailer and we like to go for family rides on the weekend. When we started going last fall dd would flip out if we put a helmet on her and scream until we took it off. She was one. She also didn't love the trailer and we didn't use it so much. Now this fall (summer is too hot here to bike imo) we are going and she loves it. But we didn't try the helmet again. Dh doesn't think we need it. I think that not only should we have her in one, we should probably wear one as well to set the example.

    I don't, but L does.  You're probably right about setting the example, though.

    It is illegal here (Georgia) to have a child in a trailer or on a bike without a helmet who is under a certain age, like 12, I think.  DD wears her helmet in the trailer and in her Ibert bike seat.  I don't care if she doesn't like it anymore than I care if she doesn't like the car seat.  She didn't mind it at all once we got going.  She loves biking.

    Yup, we do.  DD loves to wear her helmet.  She is 2.  We didn't bike with her last year because the helmet just weighed her head down and she had difficulty holding her head up.  Perhaps that is why your dd didn't like it then either.  I would try it.  You might be surprised.  We have helmets, but we don't wear them when we are just biking around the subdivision-we probably should....  It would probably help in your case though.

    DD wears her helmet in the trailer, but she didn't always like it.

    Honestly, I think she didn't really fit in the trailer until she was closer to 2 (and she's a big girl).  I think she would have done better on a bike seat before that.

    I let her choose her own helmet after she'd grown out of her smallest helmet and that definitely helped her enjoy wearing it.

    Okay, I am going to try it next time. I have a really nice one that has some cat cartoons on it and she likes cats so maybe I can parlay that into some bargaining power. :)
