How to let them play together at 3-4 months?

What worked for you?  I've been laying them on their sides facing each other so they can hold hands and smile and stare at each other, but are there other creative ways to let them interact?

We had to give up tandem feeding at 2 months.... that used to be a way they could stare at each other, but not anymore, they want to breast feed alone.

  • That was about the age that I'd sit them in their Bumbo seats facing each other.  Or you can do tummy time with them head to head so that they have to pick up their heads to see each other.

  • Developmentally, they aren't ready to interactively play yet.  They will first do "parallel play", where they each play alone, even if it is next to each other.  In the coming months they will start smiling at each other, even laughing together a bit, but it will still take a while for them to interact in the way that you want.  But don't worry, it will eventually happen!

  • I would prop them on bellies with the Boppies as long as they would tolerate and they loved staring at eachother, would reach for eachother, it was so cute to watch
