3-ish month-old twins, what is your day like?

Where do your babies sleep during day and night?  How much crying do they do... how long can they handle staying awake?

Re: 3-ish month-old twins, what is your day like?

  • At three months, our babies slept in their cribs for naps during the day and in cosleepers in our bedrooms at night. They didn't cry too much--mainly during the witching hour or when hungry. They did some of their best sleepign around 3 months in terms of both naps and nightime sleep.

As for their schedule, here's how it looked:

    5am: Bottle

    5:30-8am: Back to bed

    8am: Bottle

    8:30-9am: Play

    9am-11am: Nap

    11am-12:30pm: bottle and play

    12:30-2pm Nap

    2pm-3:30pm: Bottle, play

    3:30pm-5pm: Nap

    5pm-7:30pm: Bottle, play

    7:30: Bedtime routine

    8pm: Bed

This schedule worked awesome for us. I'm sad that they are moving away from it by taking shorter naps, going to bed earlier, and getting up earlier.

  • Right now, this is how our schedule looks:

Awake for the day around 7a and eat (usually 4 oz)

Play for a little bit (the best smiles happen at this time)

9-ish Nap (the length of these naps seems to vary from day to day)

    11-is Eat (4 oz)

    12-ish Tummy time/play/read books/listen to music

    1-ish Nap (length varies)

    3-ish Eat (4 oz)

3:30-6:45 all depends on how the earlier part of the day went

6:45p in the tub (only wash 2x per week)

    7:15p Eat (4-6 oz)

    7:45 Bedtime

1-2a Eat (amount varies between 2-4 oz)

5-ish wake up, but we try to put them back to sleep without feeding. Sometime we give them a little tast just to pacify them.

  • Oh, and during the day, they sleep in bouncies, on the couch (with barriers), or in the PNP. We are thinking about picking them up and moving them to their crib for naps.. but we haven't decide on what to do yet.

Nighttime sleep is in one crib... but they are starting to outgrow it.. we might have to separate them soon.

Crying... Rayla goes through at least one major fit per day (we can't figure out why, and it's not always at the same time). Payton starts to cry, but she is easily pacified. They both go down for nighttime sleeping pretty well.

  • This is what our day looks like:

8am- 6oz bottle and up for the day... then we play until about 9:30-10am, where they will then take a nap till about 11am

    11am-1pm - 6oz bottle, play, etc

    1pm-4pm - nap

    4pm- 6oz bottle, play

5:30-6pm- nap (they always take a short nap around this time)

7pm - 6oz bottle and we swaddle them and put them to bed by 7:30pm.

They sleep from 7:30pm to 8am generally, but sometimes one will wake up anywhere between 3 - 5am and if  they do we just feed them and they go back to bed till 8:30am.

I should add that they nap in their swings during the day and at night they sleep in the RnPs in their room.  They don't cry when we put them to sleep at night, they have learned to just fall asleep on their own, if they cry its cause they are still hungry so we just feed them more and they go right to sleep.  For naps they may fuss for a min or two before falling asleep in the swings.

  • I work so here is my day (times vary of course)

    6:30 - eat

7-8:30 wake time - read a book, sing..nothing too exciting

8:30 - 9:30 nap (sometimes this is longer but lately not)

9:30 or 10pm - eat then play time - excercise on blanket on floor, tummy time, sing

    11 or 11:30- 12:30 nap

1pm - eat then wipe down sponge bath & get dressed - read books & mild play time

2:30 - 4:00 - nap- this is usually their longest one most days. Sometimes it's 2hrs

4pm - eat - some more play time, walk around the house, stationary walker, jumpy

5:30 - 6:30 short nap (most times it's 30 mins to an hr) This is when i try to make dinner :)

7pm - eat & bed by 7:30pm or every other night we do a bath then bottle then bed

7:30 - 8pm we get to eat the dinner i made 2 hrs before lol...OR sometimes i'm just making it at that point :(

most nights they are in bed between 7:30-8. DD will sleep from this time until 6:30am. DS will wake once or twice a night for a binky but will go right back to sleep.

Hope this helps. Each day of course is different and not always so smooth.

  • Wow, these are long good naps!  Impressive :)  I'm still waiting for naps to last longer than 15 mins....

It's all due to the swings in our house!  Our days are like this:

6am - bottle and back to bed

9:30a - up for the day (although they usually wake a little earlier and I'll put them in their swings to doze until it's time for breakfast and mommy needs time to have her breakfast and coffee)

11 or 11:30-1 nap (which starts out in the crib and they usually end up in the swing)

    1p - lunch

2:30 or 3-4:30 nap (again, start in the cribs, end up in the swing)

    4:30 - late afternoon bottle

6 or 6:30-7:30 nap (almost always in the swing so we can eat dinner)

7:30 dinner bottle and down to bed after that

11p - dreamfeed in the nursery

Until about a week ago, they were eating around 2:30 or 3 but we've been working on dropping that feeding. They now usually go until 4:30 or 5 before fussing and we can use the paci to keep them happy until 6.

  • Their feeding times are always the same, but their periods of wakefulness is always different from 10 am to 8 pm

5 am - morning bottle, then back to bed in their cribs

10 am - mid morning bottle and juice

10am - 3 pm - alternate sleeping in the swings, crib or boppy with periods of alertness - we do activity mat and read books.

    3 pm - bottle

3pm - 8 pm - same as above - alternate sleep and activity

8 pm bottle and juice and then to sleep in the cribs.

Every day is different with how long they stay up.  They usually don't do more than 30 minutes of activity mat at a time, but we can do that numerous times throughout the day.  I usually read to them if one is sleeping and one is awake.  It's easier that way because I can put one baby on my lap and we look at the pictures.
