If you were a bird lover, what would you think of receiving handmade mobile such as this for your baby shower instead of the traditional registry gift?
I'm thinking of making one of these for my sister's shower next month. Her spouse is a very avid birdwatcher. I've already made one test bird that turned out well, I just want to make sure this is a good gift before I spend a small fortune special ordering a ton of various Amy Butler fabrics.
Re: What do you think of this gift?
Every time you ask something like this you're already halfway done ordering it anyway, so I'm not entirely sure why you ask.. LOL
Honestly? I think it has the potential to be cute but doesn't quite make it. I think it'd end up in the basement. Unless you know they're doing birds or something related in the baby's room, they'd really have nowhere to put it. My mom and sis are bird crazy & have had pet birds, etc, and they'd look at me like I was an alien if I suggested this to them.
LOL, Kori. I've been looking a fat quarter bundles on Etsy, but I haven't done anything other than look yet. I don't even have an Etsy account yet. ;-)
Oh, and I'd do it in their nursery colors.
If nothing else, I think I want to make one to hang somewhere in *our* house!
I think it's freaking adorable and I would totally hang in it ours, but I know a lot of people who are stuck on a certain theme and might not appreciate it, especially given all the work that would require.
But you could sell these on Etsy, no problem.
I really love the idea of it, and it could be absolutely adorable. But, I would only do it if it would match the baby's room. I would find out what their decor is going to be first.
Then I think they would love it!
