Why am I afraid of playdates?

My dd has asked for playdates with some school friends. But for some reason, I'm terrified of calling the parents. ugh, what is wrong with me! Darn social anxiety!

I don't like them either. I am not overly friendly in general and trying to make small talk with some random mom for an hour about mommyhood sounds pretty much like hell to my socially-anxious ass.

Ditto Mayor. I know you have to start somewhere and that friendships eventually form, but they're always so. damn. awkward for me. Makes me glad being a WAHM because we don't have very many of them.

I love playdates!   I love my kids being fully entertained by another child.  It usually minimizes fighting btwn my two.  I have always had luck with "friending" the person on FB first.

I love playdates with my friends. Now that my kids are older, I really don't have any interest in people coming over while their child plays. Hopefully we're past that stage soon. I'm very talkative but still...IDK, I just have too much going on to have people come over just because their child is here.

We have drop off now and they are great.  I don't mind playdates.  I had 2 today.  I think they are nice for the kids and the drop off ones keep DS and DD busy.

I do like the actual play dates, I am just not so good at cold-calling parents!

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way although it still annoying to have this anxiety.
