We paid tuition to UC for winter quarter for one class, but then DH ended up dropping it, so we were refunded the money in 2011, but our tax statement reflects the total paid in 2010 including the refunded money. Anyone know how to handle this? My aunt is looking into it, but I have not heard back from her yet. DH fails to think this is an issue and we should go on with life like all is well....mean while I prefer to not get in trouble with the IRS. ;-)

I'm thinking that since you were refunded the money this year, it will be reflected in the 1098-T you receive next year for 2011. I think it's worth a call to UC to see if they can fix it for you without screwing up next year's tuition statement
