Target registry problem.. What would you do?

So my baby shower is in 3 days and I've been registered at Target for about 3 weeks now. I haven't been looking online at what has been purchased, but tonight I decided to cheat and take a peek. And it seems that a couple important items that I originally had on my registry are missing (purchased & unpurchased items remain on the list). I'm guessing the system accidentally deleted them or something screwed up when I deleted other items on the scanner while I was registering. It's the diaper pail & the manual breast pump that are missing.. both important items that are around $35-40. Should I go ahead and add these items back onto my registry (I can add them online)? I just hope guests haven't already purchased the missing items off my registry & then the items got deleted. Then I might get two of the same thing if I add them back on. What would you do?

  • Add them back just in case and if you get duplicates you can always exchange for something else.

This exactly. Target is super nice about registry returns as it is in my experience, so dont worry about duplicates.

By the way, the item does not fall off the registry when it is purchased, it just shows as purchased, to prevent duplicates.

  • Since they aren't expensive items, I would wait and see if they were purchased. You may get doubles of other items, and be able to do an exchange after the shower. Or exchange the doubles of the pail and pump, if you think you want to add them back. I know where I'm registered ppl can ask to have things taken off the registry, b/c they bought them elsewhere or bought a different one than is on the list. (i know thats not the point of the registry, but sometimes the color or something is different and it doesn't delete off the registry if the item purchased isn't identical). Either way I hope Target gives you a discount on registry completion if you dont get everything you need!

  • Add them. Like pp said, if you get duplicates, you can always return. And if no one getes them for you, you'll get a 10% coupon later.
  • I just added them both back on, and the very second I added the diaper pail, it went straight to the "purchased" list. what the...?

  • This is why I refused to register at target for baby- we had the same problem for our wedding registry.

Items would magically disappear AFTER they were purchased, so we couldn't return the duplicates. We went around and around with 'customer service', who claimed that they had no record of the item at all.

Maybe it is different with other Targets but all you technically had to do is add them yourself, print off your registry log, and then return it.

I had some things that I was given that were never on my registry and I just added them myself, changed them to purchased, and returned them. It was a nice way to get around not having a return receipt.

  • My Target registry was totally jacked up. I would say like 28 items purchased...yet only 6 were showing on the purchased list. I still don't understand it and I did get duplicates of a few things. Target was good about returns too. All I have to do for a return without a gift receipt was print my purchased log. They also take returns up to $75 with a photo ID.

  • I have heard that sometimes if an item is bought and wont come off the registry the store does delete it sometimes to prevent duplicates.  This only happens if the buyer points out that it is still on the registry.   I'm not sure if this happens at Target.

  • I would add them back on if you can just in case. Sometimes things like that happen. As long as its on your registry then you can return it to the store.
