There's a shortage and now a black market. Are they really THAT great? Do I really want to be using a tampon without an applicator?? Enlighten me, please.

Re: OB Tampons...
I love them. But they are one of several brands that I am OK with, so...
Easy to carry around, no plastic applicator to trash the environment, and they expand nicely and don't leak.

so, gross personal question, lari, because I've also wondered about the love of the OB tampon....
how mess is it to put in? I mean, you are washing hands after anyways, but I have a HEAVY flow, and I just picture getting to the sink with a half bloody hand. No??
Oh thank you for asking this. I have often wondered this myself

hmmmmm...I'll carry a stopwatch next time! LOL. I'd guess the average time it takes anyone, but even with an applicator, I get blood on a finger or two. I'm not kidding when I say heavy...
but this talk of it being more absorbant has me interested.......
I've heard they are no longer making them....that is why there is a shortage right?
I think they are gross, my mom uses them so I had to use a few in my younger years when I was out of mine. I would get blood on my insertion finger (that sentence just made me gag btw.)

"Insertion Finger" is an exellent name for a band.
I'm thinking punk band.
IME, When you put in the first one it can be messy. but then when you're just changing it there is no mess. Because the 'pathway' has been cleared of blood by the super-duper fabulous OB tampons.
I didn't realize there was a shortage! I haven't had a need for a while.
I have a friend who has been buying them up whenever she finds them and fortunately she's nice enough to share with me. (glad I'm OB-worthy)

If you need a substitute, the Playtex Sport are pretty good. They have a plastic applicator, but they open the same way was the OB, so the leakage protection is similar.
One benefit to being a non-brand-loyal coupon freak is being able to try lots of different brands of stuff and find out what works and what doesn't.

Meh, I birthed a human being that grew inside me for 9 months, getting a little bit of my own blood on my finger isn't such a big deal. It rarely happens but when it does it's no biggie
This 100%
I love these because the other ones leak.
