Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Can she get RSV twice in a row?

Annalise was diagnosed with bronchiolitis (RSV) in early January.  She is JUST getting over it completely.  I got an email today that it was going around the daycare.  I noticed when I picked her up today that she was sneezing and coughing.  Is it possible that she is getting it again?  It will kill me if she does.  She slept SO badly with it!

Re: Can she get RSV twice in a row?

  • It's technically possible to get RSV twice in a year, but it may just be that your LO isn't quite over her first round with it yet.  Some babies will cough for up to 6+ weeks after RSV.  The sneezing could signal another RSV case, or even just another run of the mill cold.  Just keep an eye on her, keep practicing good hand washing, and see how she does.  If you're really worried, maybe keep her out of daycare a day or two if that's an option.  Good luck!
