I've always loved the name Alice for a girl, and finally getting DH to come around on it. (Sounds great with DD's name which is also very simple and classic)
I just posted about it on the Baby Names board and someone said it's becoming more popular because of Twilight. I have read the books or seen the movie, so I'm clueless about the connection but I really don't want a trendy name. Can anyone give me more info on this name in relation to the series?
TIA.

After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1

Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN
Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN
Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14
I sadly admit to reading these books. But I'm getting rid of them when I clean out the nursery. The movies are horrible.
Names used by twilight: Bella/Isabella, Carlisle (or however its spelled), Esme, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosemarie, Cullen (the vampire's LN), Edward, Jacob. Oh and they made up a name: Renesmee.
Alice was one of the vampires, a lot of people liked her because she was friends with the main character (Bella).

lurking. I responded to ur post on july 10.
pardon the typing. im 1ht
It's commonly an English name (my SIL, who is from England, is named Alice, and it's pretty common over there).
I would say that Alice is such a minor character in the film/book (when compared to the main three: Edward, Bella, Jacob) that automatically assuming Twilight is a large mental jump.
Alice gets my vote. It's easy to spell, easy to pronounce and classy. Two thumbs way up!

This. The SSA for 2010 should be out soon too FWIW.
This. I have read all the books and seen all the movies
but don't think of Twilight at all when I hear the name Alice. Great name choice.
I think Alice is beautiful.. I don't think Twilight when I hear it. I think of my great grandma. It's an old enough name and simple and classic, that you wouldn't get those thoughts about it in everyday life.
I am also not a Twilight fan and our first choice for a girl name was Esme.. but I got WAY too many comments about Twilight, DH changed his mind about the name anyway.
Alice is definitely not the most popular character in the series... isabella, jacob and edward are the ones becoming way to popular because of the book.
As for her character in the series. She is a vampire but she is VERY sweet and bubbly, she has a wonderful personality and is kinda pixie like to me. She can see what people do/think before they do them (but sometimes it changes if that person changes there mind at the last minute) I LOVE her. If anyone associated the name with that character it would be a good association hehe
)
Alice is Edward's sister in the book. I don't think people will connect the name with the book. I have wanted the name Bella for a girl for about 10 years. Now the book has made it crazy popular. If I do have a girl I am going to stick with it because I've wanted it for so long.

I read the books but i have to admit I LOVE Alice and Jacob (I dont care that they have gained popularity because of a book). If you love the name, dont deny it to the kid. If its the right name its the right name.
There was a study that showed 50% of kids were named the top 135 names, not even the top hundred. So yes she might know another alice (or jacob in our case) but probably not 10.
