STILL no power in our house...

We've been without power now since 8pm last night. We braved the cold last night and stayed in our house (mainly because the streets were too icy to leave) and just bundled up, and the temp in the house stayed around 55. This morning, though, it was dropping quickly, so we came down to Cincy and have been hanging out at my parents' house. As of a half hour ago, our house still has no power. DH is going to drive back tonight to get the water running so the pipes don't burst, but there's no way in heck we can sleep there tonight, so we're going to have to spend the night here in West Chester. I can't even think of the logistics of getting back to Dayton in the morning to be at work at 7:30 and getting Leah to daycare.

To top it off, we ended up with water getting into the foundation and all last night, we had water running down our basement walls. Nightmare.

Re: STILL no power in our house...

  • Oh geez! What a mess. I hope DPL gets their act together and gets your power on soon.

  • You are right.  That sounds like a nightmare.  Sad

  • That stinks!  Hope your power comes back on soon and the damage wasn't too extensive.

  • That blows! I hope it comes back soon and the water damage isn't extensive.
  • That really stinks.  My sister still has no power either (she lives in Yellow Springs).  I hope you get power soon!
  • Ugh - I semi-feel your pain.  We lost power last night around 9:30 and we still don't have power.  I am staying at my parents with the dog and DH is at the house with the cat.  They told us it might be as late as Friday before we have power.  Soooo ready for spring!

  • Sorry for you, loganlac :(. We called DP&L this afternoon and they reassured us that power was back up at our house. So we drove all the way back tonight...and it wasn't. I was so furious. I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe tomorrow will be the day. I'm off work tomorrow which makes things MUCH easier. Thank goodness.

  • Omg, Erin! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this mess! I was thinking of the fellow Dayton bumpies, wondering who was without power...

Somehow we never lost power despite tons of exploding transformers on our street on Monday evening. Our street looks like a war zone though - tons of power lines down and trees/limbs!

I hope it comes back on soon! (At least you have another snow day today!! Yes)

We just had a 2 hr delay, so I am at school.

  • Amber, I saw you guys just had a delay. DH did, too, so he drove in this morning. The streets in Kettering were awful last night on our way back down here so I was pretty shocked that they just had a delay. Are your side streets icy? The side streets around town look pretty bad.

  • Our side streets (both in Belmont and C'ville) are pretty bad still. Dayton NEVER plows our freaking neighborhood, so we are used to the disaster. Sigh. Can't wait to move. Enjoy your day!
