Generic vs Name Brand formula

I tried the target generic brand and did not like that it gave DD gas.  Also, it would sometimes clump up if I was not careful to shake it.  So, now I use Emfamil.  BUT, its freaking expensive.  TWICE as expensive. 

 Should I give another generic brand a try? I am finding it really heard to spend a $100 on formula a month since it used to be free when I breast fed her for the last 6 months.

Walmart's brand works fine for ds and I've never had a problem with it, but I've found that turning the bottle upside down (finger covering the nipple's hole) and shaking hard never gives me clumps. DH will shake with the nipple up and not as hard and I've found clumps and had to reshake.

We use Wal-Mart and I prefer it to the name brand of the same variety.

Try the Target Gentlease if regular gave her gas.  I actually prefer Target Gentlease to Enfamil Gentlease (which we tried first after all regular formula gave her gas), but that's just me.  Also, all formula clumps if not shaken well enough, not just generic

We go back and forth from Target generic and Costco generic all the time- no problems. Costco's is $10 a can, even cheaper than Target.

DS is on Sam's brand of Enfamil Gentlease.  If he is on regular Enfamil (generic or not) he gets really bad gas.  I have used the Gentle generic at Target and Walmart too.  All are the same, but Sam's is way cheaper.  I also got the clumping with name brand and generic.
