craft help

I tried to make this craft with DS today.  You have to combine corn starch and water and heat it on the stove to make glue.  I followed the directions and went to check to see if the glue was cool and it isn't glue at all....it's like rubber!  Has anyone made glue like this before?  I'm thinking I cooked it too long because it got thick quickly but wasn't translucent so I kept it on the stove.  DS is gonna be upset when he gets up from nap.....it's been that kinda day in our house!

Try adding more water and rewarming it. I think it's something you have to use fairly quickly after it cools to the touch.
