Probably nothing to worry about....but is this safe?

I'm overdue for an eye exam and I am wondering if any of the tests they perform is unsafe while your pregnant? I know I can ask the office about it, but they aren't open yet and I'm really curious if anyone has had this come up before...TIA

  • I had an eye exam while I was TTC and I told them there was the possibility that I was pregnant, and the only thing they didn't do was dyalate (sp?) my eyes. Everything else was fine, according to my eye doctor.

  • I'm pretty sure it's safe but I went in while pregnant with my first because my eyes seemed worse and they said during pregnancy your eyes can completely change (add that to they list of changes...) so they told me to wait until 3 months postpartum and if they were still off to come in.  Needless to say it was just a pregnancy thing and they got better on thier own.  So I think you can go in but I'm not sure if it would be completely worth it... Oh, and they didn't dialate my eyes either when I was pregnant.

  • I'm pretty sure that pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause your eyesight to change, I would ask about it when you call to make an appt.

  • I just went to the eye doctor last week and they said not to do the dialation. Also, your eyes do change during pregnancy so they really don't recommend getting an eye exam while pregnant. I found this out after I had already made and paid for my appointment and picked out new glasses...kind of a bummer but oh well.
