I am thinking about taking a cake decorating class at Jo-Anne Fabrics. It is pretty cheap and something that really interests me so I thought it would be fun. Has anybody here taken one? I am pretty good already being self-taught but I know you need to take the basics class first before they allow you to take the more advanced classes. I am especially interested in the fondant and gum paste one.
So did you like it? Have fun? Learn something? Was it jusr you and a bunch of stuffy blue-haired's or a younger crowd? thanks!!
Re: Wilton Cake Decorating class?
I took a class about 30 years ago. I was 12. LOL
But the class I took was a good variety of young, old and in betweens. My first job was as a baker in a coffee shop, so it was worth it to me. I would do it.

Yeah, that is kind of what I am looking for. I'm not trying to open my own bakery or anything but I do like making fun cakes for family celebrations. I want something for me that is fun and gets me out of the house (and away from my kids and dh lol.)
Oy. The icing. I had forgotten about that!! You had to make huge batches of it every week! I should have bought stock in the shortening and sugar companies!
