A-baybride

Hi!  How's NY treating you?  Are you still in the city or did you move to a more permanent place?  How are you dealing with the winter???

We did NOT like Park Slope (had an issue with the sublet, too) and moved to the UWS.  However, I am back now in California with my 2 girls (we couldn't stand the cold) and my DH is still there.  He has to stay until about mid-June and I think I'll go back in April for the last couple of months.

Hope you are well!

Re: A-baybride

  • Hi there!  I saw you post a few days ago and was thinking I should email you to see if you wanted to try to meet up - guess not!  I'm sooooo jealous you're back in CA!  If this were a temporary situation for my DH, I would be back there, too!

I did not like living in the city - I thought I would love the convenience of it, but it's just an enormous PITA with 2 small kids.  We're in NJ now - renting a house with plenty of room (good thing since it's miserable being outside!) and a yard for the kids when the weather gets better.  Much better!

The weather is awful. I keep talking about heading out to LA for a while to defrost, but doing that flight by myself with the kids is keeping me from actually buying the tickets.  My 11 month old DS will not nap away from home and instead is a fussy, screaming mess. Everyone on the plane would hate me.

Enjoy the warm winter for me!  Let me know when you're back if you want to meet at the park or zoo or something.  Do you still have my email?

  • The city is SO hard to maneuver with 2 little kids.  Our apt. there is right above a subway station, but there is no elevator, so it did me no good.  I think Manhattan would be so much fun if I didn't have kids yet...but I do;-)

I'll definitely let you know when we are back and we'll meet up!

Stay warm and hopefully try to stay sane!

  • Yeah, I had spent a lot of time in NY pre-kids and liked being there, but it's completely different with kids.  DD gives me a heart attack on subway platforms and when you really need a cab you can't find an empty one, then all the putting on and taking off gloves, hats, coats, scarves... bah.  Hopefully it'll get a little easier in a couple years but I'm happy spending my days in suburbia!

See you when we thaw out! :)

  • I hear you on the winter wardrobe...except for my little one who refused gloves and then cried so much because she was so cold!

I grew up in suburbia...LOVE IT!

    See you in the spring:)
