Overnight w/wool longies...am I doing this right?

DS went to bed w/wool longies plus a fitted diaper with a hemp liner outside of that. The fitted and hemp were soaked in the a.m. but the wool was just a tiny bit damp, but it smelled like urine a little. I thought they weren't supposed to smell. Should i re-lanolize it? Also, he must have slept on one of his blankets b/c it totally STUNK like urine! It was gross.

Am I doing anything wrong? Anything I should try? TIA!

You may want to try a 2nd hemp insert.  I usually place an AFFF hemp insert trifolded in between the soaker layers inside the fitted.  Than the longies on top.  If DS pees a lot and the wool gets damp it will smell but only until it dries.  Once dried the smell is gone.  The blanket smelled because of pressure wicking.  The pee went through the wool onto the blanket.  In that case you may want to try re-lanolizing to make it more bullet-proof.
