NBR: boiling vs. steaming

Re: NBR: boiling vs. steaming

  • with boiling, you put the food directly in the water. With steaming, the boiling water is below the food and the steam is what cooks it.

do they cook it the same? (ie: is one healthier then the other?)

Steaming is much healthier. You lose a lot of nutrients when you boil, unless you actually drink the water you boil them in.

If you don't have an actual steamer, you could just rest a metal collander on a pot with boiling water and put the veggies in the collander. Smile

This is a test. This is only a test.
  • Steaming tends to hold nutrients while boiling cooks off nutrients.
  • Thanks ladies!
