where do you buy your baby care items?

diapers, formula, wipes...

im trying to get thrifty...

Do you shop different places for different items?  Have you noticed certain stores are cheaper for certain things?

Do you shop wholesale?  Costco?

Do you go where ever the coupons are?

Do you have any MoMs secrets you care to share on being money wise?

Re: where do you buy your baby care items?

  • Diapers are cheapest on Amazon, using the Amazon Mom program + Subscribe and Save (just cancel the subscription after your order has shipped).  The prices beat Sam's every time and they are delivered to my door.

Wipes we have found cheaper at Sam's than on Amazon.  I hate Huggies diapers but their wipes are better than Pampers, IMO.

For formula, if you don't have any coupons/checks, a warehouse club is the way to go, usually.  We only have Sam's around here (boo) and they have the best prices on formula without any coupons/checks.  If you have coupons and checks, watch the sales to see who has got the best deal.  Target has a deal going right now on Enfamil that, with coupons and checks, and the $5 gift card you get for buying two, blows Sam's out of the water price-wise.

  • We buy generic formula at a warehouse club (BJ's, around here).

We cloth diaper, so I can't help you there.  If you want to be long-term thrify, you might consider switching to them.  It will save us a few thousand in diapers by the time everyone's out of them.

  • Diapers - I only get them through Amazon. It's the cheapest around especially if you have the additional 20% off coupon on top of receiving 30% off. If I have to buy something at the store, we will use the generic Target brand of diapers.

Formula - we are using the Target Up&Up brand. I get a 40oz. can for $18. They have a $1 off coupon right now, so I am stocking up on formula as we speak. You can only purchase 6 cans at a time, so I go into the store every few days and buy 6 cans. I think we have over 20 cans sitting on top of our cabinets. It's the generic for Similac. Anytime I get a Similac check, I purchase the RTF bottles. It winds up costing 50 cents after the check. We will use the RTF when they are older and its easier on their tummies to switch formula.

Wipes - I like the BRU Supreme brand of wipes. I think you get 528 for $12.99. I pair the wipes with their 20% off coupons to bring the price down even more. I then scour the clearance sections at Target/Kroger for any marked down wipes. I got some Pamper Wipes on clearance at Kroger for $2 for 300 wipes. Steal!!

Do you shop different places for different items?  Have you noticed certain stores are cheaper for certain things? Yes, I shop around and keep my eyes peeled for any deals. I also use the website www.babycheapskate.com . She will list every week the best deals and stockupportunity. She will pair them with coupons for different stores and locations.

Do you shop wholesale?  Costco?  Not really. We don't have a Costco around here only a Sam's Club. I haven't been into Sam's in a really long time, so I'm not sure if I would save even more there.

Do you go where ever the coupons are?  Yes, why wouldn't you? I have picked up items at Walgreens before because they wind up being free after you stack coupons.

Do you have any MoMs secrets you care to share on being money wise? Swap Swap Swap with other MoM's on either the bump and or local club with coupons, etc. Sign up every single one of your family members for deals/checks/coupons. I have even purchased a subscription of Parents Magazine for family members to get more of the Amazon coupon codes. You save $8 with one of those coupons and I think the most I have paid for a year subscription is $5 so I'm still saving money.

  • I get just about everything from Amazon.com. With the Mom and Subscribe and save you can't beat the price, plus Parenting magazine with the 20% coupons you basically get everything 1/2 off delivered to your door. I got 192 huggies size 1-2 for $14.00. I then cancel the subscription and redo it with a new coupon the next month. Same with wipes.

Formula I use checks and also Target's brand with my oldest son when the checks and stuff ran out.

  • We use generic for everything and get it all at Target... formula, wipes, diapers, bath stuff, etc.
  • diapers = amazon

    wipes & formula = costco

I know Parenting and American Baby do. Parents does not. Last week when I found out about the Amazon deal, I actually posted on a few of the boards asking if anyone had any codes they're not using. I got a couple extra ones that way, better than buying magazines (although I certainly would buy them, I'd still save $5 off the diapers I bought if I spend $3.50 on a magazine..)

  • Amazon.com/mom using subscribe and save is the best deal.

Kirkland diapers are now .29/per in size 5, and I've found that I really like Huggies (at .19/per).  Actually, with tax at almost 10% in our area, the Amazon deal is even better.

I LOVE Kirkland wipes, and haven't thought about changing.
