Parenting after 35

Microwave died :(

yesterday after a good run of 16 years.  We propmtly packed up Rachel and headed out to get a new one.  Now we are waiting for the install folks to call. sighs..... I wish DH was handy.

This got me thinking...how the heck did we live without a microwave when I was a kid?  I remember when we got out first one. I was 8 and we went on our big trip out west. We flew to Denver and drove all over the west for 6 weeks. Great memories. Anyway, we went to that game show The Joker's Wild. Well my mom was the lucky contestant in the studio audience that won the prize.  That thing was huge!!

  • I honestly have no clue how we lived without one.  We use one so much that it is almost a disposable appliance in our house.  I don't think we have made on last more than 2 years.

  • Who can think about microwaves when I see those cheeks and that blonde hair and the cutey cute sleeper! Rachel is so adorable.

ETA: But yeah, I remember our first microwave too. It had a dial.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't like microwaves?

It's funny when my Brother-in-law came into our kitchen after we first moved, his first question was "No microwave?" I honestly get by fine without one.

  • We had a microwave when I was a kid - a big ol' clunker of a thing my mom got in '83 or '84 that she used until she remodeled her kitchen a few years ago.

Seriously! Her cheeks are the cutest. Are they always that rosy? Sydney's are like that when she wakes up from her naps.

About microwaves... I can't imagine not being able to heat up my coffee. I cannot drink my two cups of coffee in the morning without heating them at least twice. I refuse to drink cold coffee!

Awww. Thank you. When I handed R over to DH for her night time bottle in those jammies for the first time he said "come here fruit stripe"

Our microwave had a dial too :)

Same here. I usually have to set my cup aside several times since a certain short person in the house wants to put her hands in it and by the time I get back to it, it is cold. Cold coffee is just nasty.

Thanks Dana.  She does have rosy cheeks most of the time. She'll get to save money on blush when she's older.

I had to drink some cold coffee this morning. I turned around to put my cup in the microwave and remembered it didn't work.  So I had to suck it up and drink it cold. I needed the caffine.

You are not alone. :) I have not had one in over 12 years. I do fine without it. I do love my toaster oven though.
