VBAC

What are signs of uterine rupture???

I know you ladies have probably done far more research than I have regarding risks of VBAC.  From talking to my doc, uterine rupture has been the biggest thing he's seen (and the results to the mom and unborn child).  Of course that is scary stuff, although rare.

So I was just curious--have you talked to your docs at all about what the actual SIGNS of uterine rupture are????  Are there signs even before delivery that it is possible (like maybe pain or a tearing feeling in the scar area?).  Just curious.

Re: What are signs of uterine rupture???

  • Some signs of a rupture could be:

    -bleeding

    -pain

    -change in fetal heart rate

    -decrease in fetal movement

-contractions becoming weaker, less effective, less organized

  • This doesn't answer your question but I always find it interesting (its the odds of an uterine rupture).  I think a lot of doctors like to scare women w/ the possiblity of a uterine rupture and its really really rare: https://sagefemme.blogspot.com/2007/09/uterine-rupture-with-vbac.html
  • I "know" someone online that had one. I asked her before my vbac. She said first it just felt wrong. She knew something was just not right (she had 3 kids already), and that it was a constant pain, not like contractions, not even like contractions that are just not stopping.
