2nd time moms--movement monitor?

Did you use a movement monitor with your first baby? I've been looking at them online and reading reviews, and I'm torn. Of course I want my baby to be safe in his/her crib, but am just wondering how helpful these are, and if they have a lot of false alarms. I guess I always think about my parents generation and how they didn't have much of the info/products that are available now, but we turned out fine. Just looking for your experiences and advice. I did not. Baby slept with us. Might not be a bad idea though if you plan on putting them in their own room from day one.

Nope we didn't use one. Or a video monitor for that matter. I think I'd just freak myself out from false alarms by having one.

We didn't use one but we also didn't use a regular monitor either. I never missed it or regretted our decision. Plan on doing the same with this LO as well.

There is NO evidence that the movement monitor prevents SIDS.

Nope. We used a regular sound monitor when she was tiny, and when she got older we just left her door open- her cries were loud enough that we could hear her

No, and we didn't have a video monitor either. Everyone I know who had a breathing monitor got false alarms. I can't imagine waking up to that.

I found that I could usually hear the boys breathing on our good-quality sound-only monitor.
