Need some help.......

Ok 10 days ago DD2 finally got her chicken pox vacs.... I was delaying most of she shots and stuff. So anyways.

Today DD2 wakes up and I got to change her diaper and all over her back and her belly she has little red bumps. Now she also has this problem that she randomly beaks out in hives and we have cause of them at this point. So do you think they could be a mild case of the chicken pox or hives? (the only reason why I say hives is that they start out at the red little spots that she has right now and sometimes they get worse and some times they dont!) I am just not sure... I cant call the dr because he is at his other office today and he will just tell me to take her to the walk in clinic then latter on get upset that we are back in his office! (dont worry I am on the hunt for a new Pedi!) TIA girls I am just uggg  not sure at this point!

Re: Need some help.......

  • I can't remember what they say is the possibility that you can get the chicken pox from the vax. Can you call the nurse at your clinic to find out?

DS was vaccinated for chicken pox on schedule (can't remember the age). DS is a rashy kid, but a few months later, he had a rash that I didn't know what it was. Took him to urgent care, and sure enough it was chicken pox. I had no idea because it didn't look like what I knew it to be. The dr. explained that it was because he got the vax that it was a mild case and atypical. When I called our daycare, I found out that one of the siblings of DS's classmate had come down with chicken pox over the weekend. So, he was exposed there, explained it all.

I'd start with a call to the nurse and find out if you can contract it from the vax. Then try to figure out if she could have been exposed.

    Sorry, this got long! GL!
