With so many of us finding out if we're having a boy or a girl (and some who already have!), I'm curious how everyone is planning on telling their families what they're having?
We find out today (squeeee!) and we are going to have dinner at my brother & SIL's and my parents will be coming over afterwards. I had originally planned on baking a cake and making it pink or blue, but we have so many cupcakes leftover from DH's graduation party yesterday that making a cake is just silly, plus I won't really have time. We'll also need to tell DH's family. Should we just call everyone and blurt it out?
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1

Re: How are you spreading the news?
I think DH and I are going to just split the list of family down the middle, and start calling when we get home. But his mom demands that we come by her office and show her the pictures so she can 'celebrate'...since she isn't going with us to the appt. ...she cried when DH told her he wanted it to just be the two of us...geeeezzz
My inlaws found out I was pregnant via text message and they'll probably find out the baby's sex via text message.
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
We spread the news by phone since most of our family is so far away, but had we been home, I would have done something special!
If I had waited to find out when my belly starts getting bigger, I was going to paint a cute saying on it for the gender and post that on FB. A friend of mine did this and it was really cute. They did it very artsy and pretty, not just slapped on there
With DS we just called everyone to share.
DH and I are going the envelope route this time, but can't decide how we're actually going to find out. We really want DS to be with us, but don't know if we'll be at home or at a restaurant for our reveal. We'll probably just call family again.
We are gonna take a picture with a sign "It's a __" and send it to my DH's family. We are visiting my family the following weekend so we are going to do a gender reveal cake for them (girl: strawberry cake with white chocolate strawberry mousse filling and white chocolate ganache/ boy: lemon blueberry cake with a white chocolate blueberry mousse filling and white chocolate ganache filling.. mmmm). We told everyone the scan is scheduled for 1 week after the real date so we have some time to iron out the details.
We are having close friends and family over for dinner that night. I told everyone to wear pink or blue depending on their guess. I will have an "It's a Boy/Girl" sign hanging up in the kitchen and DH and I will be wearing the appropriate color.
We did this with DD and it was a fun way to celebrate!
