Trouble TTC

How long did you wait to test after IUI...

I am exactly one week from my IUI and I am dying to test....AHHHH

Re: How long did you wait to test after IUI...

  • Did you use a trigger?  The nurse told me to wait for the blood test as the trigger will register as a positive. Not sure how long it takes for the trigger to leave your system.

I always wait until at least 13 days past. The odds are just stacked against you.... with that said, if you're ok with seeing a negative, maybe start at cd10?

This 100%. I guess I also just wanted to hold on to that hope that it might be positive for a few more days. Once you test, if its BFN, the hope is really gone and you are just waiting for AF. By testing later, at least I feel like AF is right around the corner and I am already mentally on to the next cycle, if that makes sense?

  • Like PP said, it's best to wait as long as you can as hard as that is.  I understand you wanting to test early, I want to as well but be strong and hold out Big Smile

  • I always waited two weeks.  The trigger shot hormone causes BFPs on HPTs, and you don't want a false positive.

  • I waited until day 13 or 14, so I could pretty much know I was getting a definite answer. I didn't want to test too early, get a BFN, then have to keep testing. GL!

After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!

  • I waited until 14 days after the IUI. I really wanted to test sooner, but I didn't want to see the trigger show up as a false positive.

  • I never tested after my first IUI, for some reason thought for sure I was pregnant and then was devastated when I got my period. So after the next 2 IUIs I did start HPT's and one was as early as 8dpIUI and it was negative. I never had that false positive. I am regular and always get my period around day #28. So for me personally I like to do the HPTs.. I like to know whats going on. So I say go for it!

The nurse told me I could test on day 12, I started on day 10.  I agree with holding out as long as you can.  Seeing the negative sucks.
